Job Description
We’re building a relationship-oriented bank for the modern world. We need talented, passionate professionals who are dedicated to doing what’s right for our clients.
At CIBC, we embrace your strengths and your ambitions, so you are empowered at work. Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.

What You’ll Be Doing
As a Business Systems Analyst on the US Risk Technology team, you’ll serve as a technology partner for the US risk management function. We are working on challenging projects, including onboarding new data sources to our Azure SQL data hub, automating manual compliance processes using Power Platform, and enhancing our SEC 13F reporting tools.
This is a hybrid position located in Chicago that requires on-site presence at least two days per week. Our newly renovated office at 70 W. Madison Street in Chicago is designed to encourage teamwork.
How You’ll Succeed
  • Technical Skills: Make the link between business problems and technology solutions with a cloud-first mindset.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies, changes in the banking industry, and regulatory developments.
  • Collaboration: Build trusted working relationships with business stakeholders, technology partners, and external vendors.
  • Business savvy: Apply knowledge of banking and risk management to ensure alignment between business objectives and software requirements.
  • Communication: Write with precision and clarity. Express technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Understand and Document requirements—elicit requirements given complex, ambiguous business problems. Prepare business requirement documents, including an in-depth analysis of data, process flows, and current and future state models. Capture non-functional requirements encompassing performance, scalability, and security. Facilitate stakeholder reviews, solution design discussions, and requirement walk-through sessions.
Who You Are
  • You're driven by collective success. You know that collaboration can transform a good idea into a great one. You understand the power of an inclusive team that enjoys working together to create a shared vision.
  • You should be comfortable writing SQL queries and have basic familiarity with another programming language. Experience with Microsoft Azure and the Power Platform would be valuable.
  • Your influence makes an impact. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You inspire outcomes by making yourself heard.
  • Values matter to you. You bring your real self to work, and you live our values of trust, teamwork, and accountability.
  • You can demonstrate at least three years of experience in a technical role in the financial services industry with a relevant post-secondary degree. Work with databases, cloud computing, or application development and support would be particularly relevant.
  • You’re digitally savvy. You seek out innovative solutions and embrace leading-edge technologies. You can easily adapt to new tools and trends.
  • You understand banking fundamentals. Exposure to risk management, capital stress testing, credit risk models, and regulatory compliance would be particularly relevant.
  • You embrace and champion change. You'll continuously evolve your thinking and the way you work in order to deliver your best.
What CIBC offers
  • We work to recognize you in meaningful, personalized ways, which includes providing a competitive salary, incentive pay, and a comprehensive benefits package.
  • At CIBC, your goals are a priority. We start with your strengths and ambitions as an employee and strive to create opportunities to tap into your potential. We aspire to give you a career rather than just a paycheck.
  • We cultivate a culture where you can express your ambition through initiatives like Purpose Day, a paid day off dedicated for you to use to invest in your growth and development.
What you need to know
Our CIBC risk culture is based on employees striving to exceed our expectations and our leadership’s identification and mitigation of risks in their daily responsibilities, not just in quarterly or annual monitoring or assessments. We are all accountable for managing risk.
As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must conduct themselves (and foster an environment for others) in a manner consistent with our strong risk culture. This includes:
  • Escalating matters through one of the appropriate channels identified in the CIBC Code of Conduct (i.e., HR, management, Ethics Hotline, Whistleblower, etc.) upon observing activities that may be inconsistent with CIBC’s policies, frameworks, guidelines, processes, and controls
  • Escalating matters that can result in adverse market practices and outcomes, thereby negatively impacting CIBC’s reputation as a leading financial institution.
  • At all times, acting in accordance with our Purpose and shared values to achieve our Bank’s strategic goals
  • Speaking up if you witness behaviors that drive poor or unfair outcomes for clients, team members, or other stakeholders
  • Following all aspects of the CIBC Code of Conduct, as well as all applicable CIBC policies, frameworks, guidelines, processes, and controls
  • Understanding and following the qualitative and quantitative components of our Risk Appetite Statements
  • Completing all annual Corporate Mandatory Training and Testing modules, as well as any additional business-specific modules, as required, and employing the learnings in daily activities and undertakings
CIBC is committed to creating an inclusive environment where all team members and clients feel like they belong. We seek applicants with a wide range of abilities, and we provide an accessible candidate experience. If you need accommodation, please contact .
You need to be legally eligible to work at the location(s) specified above and, where applicable, must have a valid work or study permit.
Total Rewards
At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which may also include a discretionary bonus component. CIBC offers a full range of benefits and programs to meet our employee’s needs; including Medical, Dental, Vision, Health Savings Account, Life Insurance, Disability, and Other Insurance Plans, Paid Time Off (including Sick Leave, Parental Leave, and Vacation), Holidays, and 401(k).
