Description


The Research Program Director for the Cancer Protocol Review and Monitoring System (PRMS) is responsible for all ensuring that all clinical research related to cancer receives appropriate peer-review prior to activation and then regular monitoring for scientific progress. Reporting to the Associate Dean for Enterprise Clinical Cancer Research and Co-Chairs of the Review Committee, this individual must be knowledgeable of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) guidelines related to cancer clinical trials and facilitate compliant documentation and capture of clinical trials data within our clinical trials management system (OnCore). Supervise the Disease Focus Group (DFG) Coordinator who manages the early review of protocols within disease teams.


Responsibilities


  • Create and maintain accurate and reliable data in the OnCore Clinical Trials Management System
  • Assist in development and standardization of Protocol Review Monitoring Standard Operating Practices across health system
  • Create and maintain documentation of all PRMS activities and communications.
  • Organize and manage bimonthly regular meeting using Zoom and electronic voting
  • Serve as the main point of contact and subject matter expert for Protocol Review and Monitoring System (PRMS) of the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai
  • Facilitate the annual scientific progress, accrual monitoring, and amendment review of all cancer related studies
  • Demonstrate expertise in understanding federal and regulatory guidelines as it applies to clinical research at the Tisch Cancer Institute
  • Supply guidance to Protocol Review Committee members regarding the required levels of review, issues with protocol language and adherence to the myriad rules and regulations designed to protect research science integrity
  • Work in conjunction with internal departments to ensure regulatory and statutory requirements are implemented in pre-PRMS processes within mandated timeframes
  • Research, interpret and analyze cancer-related protocols and documents to ensure compliance with National Cancer Institute requirements for a NCI Designated Cancer Center
  • Identify potential areas of improvement in the committee’s functions & progress and discuss corrective actions with cancer leadership
  • Provide timely instruction to faculty investigators and research staff on the Protocol Review and Monitoring process
  • Manage and guide the DFG Coordinator as needed in daily operations


Qualifications


  • Experienced with virtual meeting formats
  • Detail oriented
  • Comfortable leading meetings
  • Bachelors degree, Masters strongly preferred, in sciences or related degree
  • 3 years supervisory
  • Able to work independently
  • Experience in clinical research, preferably in cancer.
  • 7 years experience in a hospital/medical environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Compensation


The Mount Sinai Health System (MSHS) provides a salary range to comply with the New York City Law on Salary Transparency in Job Advertisements. The salary range for the role is $92000 - $164783.95 Annually. Actual salaries depend on a variety of factors, including experience, education, and hospital need. The salary range or contractual rate listed does not include bonuses/incentive, differential pay or other forms of compensation or benefits.
