Summary
This position is responsible for supporting the operations of the Research Department. The Research Assistant works with patients, sponsor representatives, physician investigators, and other staff.
Position Reports To: Research Manager
Essential Functions

• Receive investigational medications, store them according to protocol requirements, update drug dispensing systems, and maintain drug accountability.
• Process, pack, and ship laboratory specimens according to the study protocol.
• Order supplies, stock shelves, prepare reports, schedule meetings, record meeting minutes, and other departmental administrative tasks as needed.
• Handle dry ice needs for the department, including placing order and transport of dry ice from the supplier to the department.
• Maintain the Research Department intranet page and provide updates to marketing for the CH website.
• Responsible for reception duties; including but not limited to answering the main telephone and greeting visitors to the department,
• Process patient stipend requests and reimbursements for patient travel.
• Provide procedural support to the Research Coordinator; including but not limited to phlebotomy, vital signs, and electrocardiograms.
• Build and maintain staff and provider schedules in EPIC, schedule patient appointments, check in patients, and conduct telephone screening for potential studies.
• Complete and stay up to date with CITI Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Mayo Clinic Dangerous Goods (IATA) certifications; complete study training as required by the protocol.
• Provide support to the Data Entry Coordinator; including but not limited to entering study data into the electronic data capture (EDC) system, monitoring the EDC for queries, resolving queries, scanning source documents, and uploading documents into Florence.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Provide support to the Regulatory Coordinator; including but not limited to filing IRB applications and renewals, processing protocol amendments and safety reports, compiling essential study documents throughout the study, and preparing essential study documents for archiving.

Position Requirements

Qualifications
Required:

• Valid Washington State driver’s license.
• Excellent computer skills.
• Professional interpersonal, written, and oral communication.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• AA Degree with 2 years of related experience or a high school graduate with 4 years of related experience.

Desired

• Medical Assistant (Registered, Phlebotomy, or Certified) certification highly desired.
• Experience with MS applications including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams.
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record software platform.
• Bilingual in Spanish language is highly desired.
