School of Business and Department Description

The Department of Finance and International Business, the largest department in the School of Business. The department is also affiliated with the two professional industry centers: the Center for Insurance Education and the HPS Center for Financial Excellence. The Finance program offers a comprehensive, intensive, and rigorous curriculum for students who wish to pursue careers in corporate finance, investments, investment banking, financial analysis, personal financial planning, and other areas of the global financial services industry. The Finance program offers students three concentrations within the major: Finance, Risk Management and Insurance, and Actuarial Science. Since 1970, over 3,500 alumni have graduated from this department and represent the largest number of African Americans on Wall Street.
Position Compensation

BASIC FUNCTION:
Teaching in the School of Business in the area of Finance
SUPERVISORY ACCOUNTABILITY:

NATURE AND SCOPE:
Appointment as instructor is accorded to a person who holds appropriate academic or professional qualifications and gives promise of excellent teaching. The instructor is expected to be able to plan and conduct courses with little or no supervision. The instructor’s chief responsibility consists of classroom instruction.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
  • Demonstrated potential for teaching proficiency
CORE COMPETENCIES:
  • Evidence of teaching and professional potential on the basis of past experience
  • Teaching proficiency based on past experience and/or on the basis of teaching evaluations (student and peer).
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
  • Teaching experience in an online environment.
  • Master's degree in Finance or relevant field from an AACSB accredited institution.
  • Interest and qualifications in teaching in one or more of the following areas (Venture Capital & Private Equity, Capital Markets, Financial Statement Analysis, Investment Management, and Valuation).
  • Work experience or other related certifications.
  • Full-time teaching assignments are made on an annual basis based on programmatic instructional needs (up to eight classes per academic year)
