Summary
NOW OFFERING A $7,500 SIGN-ON BONUS!
  • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Intermediate Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw or interpret bar graphs to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Licensure/Certification/Registration: Current license in Minnesota to practice as a Registered Nurse. ACLS certification within six (6) months of hire. BLS Certification with a designation of either BLS Provider or Healthcare Provider from either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, or Professional Rescuer from the American Red Cross only if issued prior to March 1, 2015, or Military Training Network.
  • Up to 35 pounds - Frequently 1/3 to 2/3 (2.5 – 5.5 hours)
  • WORKING CONDITIONS
  • The Outpatient Registered Nurse is responsible for utilizing the nursing process and physical assessment skills in the perioperative care (pre-op, intra-op and post-op) of surgical and procedural patients and patients receiving infusion therapy. Provides for education of patient, patient families and staff and evaluates outcomes. Performs follow up care as required.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, blood borne pathogens, extreme cold, extreme heat. Subject to varying and unpredictable situations. Handles emergency or crisis situations. May perform emergency care.
  • Bending-repetitive forward - Continuously Over 2/3 (5.5 – 8 hours)
  • PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENT
  • Sit - Frequently 1/3 to 2/3 (2.5 – 5.5 hours)
  • Knowledge of current principles, techniques and legal limits of nursing practice; knowledge of anatomy and physiology and physical assessment. Knowledge of customer relations principles. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, personnel and Physicians and establish professional working relationships. Ability to function as a team leader, Primary Nurse and role model; ability to accept individual responsibility and accountability for decisions and outcome. Ability to work in stressful situations; to maintain accurate records, write reports, to participate in orientation of new personnel and teaching of students; to support Outpatient goals and objectives. Ability to perform basic computer keyboard operations; ability to print or write legibly, to hear, see, and speak English.
  • Experience: ICU/PACU experience in the previous 3-5 years OR Monitoring/Sedation experience in the previous 3-5 years. Recent perianesthesia or critical care nursing experience preferred. Preference is given to individual with previous IV therapy experience, chemotherapy certification, and/or certification as an oncology nurse (OCN).
  • Talk or hear - Continuously Over 2/3 (5.5 – 8 hours)
  • Up to 10 pounds - Continuously Over 2/3 (5.5 – 8 hours)
  • Prolonged, extensive, or considerable standing/walking; lifts, positions, pushes and/or transfers patients; considerable reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, and crouching. Ability to see, hear, stand, bend, kneel, walk and lift up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • READING - Advanced: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret the most complex documents. Ability to respond effectively to the most sensitive inquires or complaints.

  • Education: BSN
  • Stoop, squat, kneel, or crouch - Continuously Over 2/3 (5.5 – 8 hours)

  • SPEAKING - Intermediate: Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one, small group situations or before groups of customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel - Continuously Over 2/3 (5.5 – 8 hours)
  • Up to 50 pounds - Occasionally Under 1/3 (1-2.5 hours)
  • Typical Noise Level - Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)
  • WRITING - Intermediate: Ability to write routine reports, correspondence, or procedures.
  • Experience: One (1) year working as a RN in an operating room setting in a circulating capacity.
