Job Description
As a Regional Mobilization Operations Manager, you will focus on greenfield data center capacity enablement program development and delivery, provide leadership, direction in establishing program roadmaps, staffing efficiencies, process improvements, and governance for DC Operations strategy that will support our current and future growth. In this role you will work collaboratively with all CO+I stakeholders to support Capacity Enablement and Growth for the organization, driving excellence in service through industry best practices.

As an Operations Manager for our Regional Mobilization Team, you and your team will perform a key role in delivering the core infrastructure and foundational technologies for Microsoft's online services including Bing, Office 365, Xbox, OneDrive, and the Microsoft Azure platform. Responsibilities

  • Create lessons learned documentation, best practices, and innovations on existing process/procedures and tools to improve efficiency and productivity.
  • Lead a team of datacenter technicians and project managers responsible for greenfield data center capacity delivery supporting the Americas Region with core network infrastructure installation, network device deployment, hardware troubleshooting and process and tooling improvements.
  • Identify risks, gaps, and opportunities and communicate to stakeholders and other teams to drive resolution.
  • Establish data analytics to evaluate the process change efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Support a strategic vision and implementation plan for regional datacenter operations that will position the organization for future capacity and growth.
  • Plan, forecast and manage program budget and make tradeoff decisions to adhere to sound fiscal practices.
  • Embody our culture and values.
  • Collaborate with partners to resource plan for capacity enablement mobilization, program and project delivery, and ongoing operational support.
  • Collaborate with various Engineering, Construction, end to end build teams, regional integration, Operations, and Regional Mobilization Managers during capacity enablement efforts and project planning and execution.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:
  • 3+ years experience in leading a diverse, technical team.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent AND 5+ years experience of mission-critical service management (e.g., providing IT services, manufacturing, warehouse, retail, military, or managing physical operations in an IT and/or critical environment infrastructure).
Other Requirements:
Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in structured process improvement and efficiency gains
  • Experience working with network technologies including Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), Local Area Network/Wide Area Network (LAN/WAN), Routing, and Switching.
  • Experience with Project and Program management in enterprise cross-functional organizations.
  • Technical College degree in Computer Science, Math, Telecommunications, Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
  • 3+ years’ experience in data center-related functions for large enterprise organizations with experience in a production, mission-critical, 24x7 operations environment.
Data Center Operations Management M5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $125,400 - $224,500 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $166,000 - $249,000 per year.
