Job Description

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of the Regional Operations Manager position is to work closely with the Region Vice President (RVP) in the supervision, daily operations, operating efficiency, service quality and safety of the Region Service Centers. Ensure high safety standards, provide technical knowledge and skills, proper management of assets (tanks, facilities, fleet, and storage), and ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations within the Region. Provide direction to service center General Manager (GM) in support of the RVP


Duties and Responsibilities

• Establishes and executes the Regions business plan in a way that best utilizes the company resources and produces the desired efficiencies

• Ensures that the Service Centers within the Region remains compliant with the company safety policies and procedures and follow applicable laws and regulations

• Supports the RVP and GM in selecting, training, coaching and developing Service Center Employees who provide leadership consistent with the company’s values

• Provides leadership within the Region Service Center’s that fosters Customer retention and positions the Service Center for growth opportunities

• Develops and implements systems that reduce expenses and maximize the utilization of all assets within the Service Center

• Supports the Region implementing and executing on the company’s operational objectives

• Supports Region Vice President in managing P&L, sales, operations efficiency, and personnel in the Region’s Service Centers

• Establishes and monitors the delivery plan that best utilizes the resources of the Service Center and produces the desired efficiencies

• Monitors and implements improvement to the delivery efficiency of the Region Service Centers delivery and service operations

• Work with RVP and GMs to establish realistic, yet challenging delivery efficiency standards

• Monitors Region Service Centers performance in accordance with standards

• Investigates, develops, and implements methods and strategies for the overall improvement of the Service Center’s delivery efficiencies – more gallons per drop, less miles per drop

• Ensure Region Service Centers utilize proper scheduling and management on the completion of service work

• Support RVP and GMs to achieve financial goals

• Ensures that ALL Region Employees comply with the company safety policies and procedures, and follow applicable laws and regulations

• Ensures that Employees are given appropriate information and training to enable them to work in a safe, efficient, and compliant manner

• Assist RVP and GMs on Service Center synergies, blending where appropriate


JOB DESCRIPTION

• Reviews schedules, specifications, process flows, and other information to understand methods and activities

• Implements management control systems to make financial planning and cost analysis more efficient.

• Enacts quality control procedures to resolve problems and minimize costs

• Works directly with field management in analyzing areas of possible operation improvement that impacts OCF, margin, and expense control (e.g., parking trucks, sending flex home, cutting down on office expenses, vehicle repair, etc.)

• Works directly with field management on scorecard analysis and follow-up with various managers to identify areas for improvement

• Completes due diligence on potential acquisitions within the division and may lead the transition in moving the acquired operations into existing

• Leads acquisition integration projects

• Reviews customer gain/loss analysis, identify trends, improvement areas and associated issues

• Analyzes and reviews Other Income performance and work with Regional Business


Scope:

• Experience with creating budgets

• Ability to read and interpret financial reports, operating statements

• Subject Matter Expert, EDP Safety PPM

• General Managers dotted line to RDO

• Other duties as assigned


Requirements:

• Must live within the Region

• High School Diploma or equivalent

• Mechanical and technical experience and aptitude for modern operating systems such as a PC or hand-held computer

• Clean background

• Maintain clean driving record in accordance with DOT Standards

• Hiring experience

• Subject matter expert:

o Logistics / Distribution – Stops, Miles, Gallons & Hours

o Service Quality

o Safety


Training:

o OSHA, DOT, and Hazmat Training

o Basic Principles & Practices

o Bobtail Delivery

o Rollover Awareness

o CETP 4.1 & 4.2 Vapor Distribution Systems

o Basic Plant Operations


Preferred:

• 3 years of progressive management in a senior management role

• Class B CDL with tanker and hazmat endorsements Customer retention experience and history

• P&L experience

• Sales experience

• Hiring experience

• DOT or propane gas experience

• Competitive urgency- ability to respond quickly and make good judgment calls in a short amount of time

• Ability to support and provide leadership to remote locations or multiple sites

• Strong leadership experience


Travel Requirements/Working Conditions:

• Extensive Travel as necessary, weekly estimate 60%-100%
