The pay range listed above reflects the FULL pay range for this position. The expected ENTRY pay range is $50,024 to $67,662 annually based on qualifying experience and equity within Maricopa County. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

As the Program Coordinator, you will establish partnerships with schools and long-term care facilities across the Maricopa County to support disease mitigation and ongoing public health response operations. You will work closely with other staff to implement the policies and procedures. We seek someone who thinks critically, identifies gaps and opportunities, and facilitates solutions.

We Require


  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, healthcare, health science, or a related field
  • One year of experience in coordinating public health programs
  • A combination of related post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the minimum qualifications on a year-for-year basis
  • Within one month of hire, all employees are required to provide evidence of immunity or receive immunizations for vaccine-preventable illnesses for any position within the Maricopa County Department of Public Health; required immunizations include MMR (measles, mumps, rubella), Tdap (whooping cough and diphtheria), Varicella (chickenpox), and annual Influenza; some positions require a Hepatitis B vaccine and/or a Tuberculosis test

Job Contributions


  • Collaborate with schools to coordinate and manage projects and initiatives focused on disease mitigation
  • Coordinate requests for temporary staffing to support school health offices
  • Serve as a primary liaison between school health office and MCDPH to ensure assigned school have the most up to date guidance related to disease control and mitigation
  • Record the outreach findings using database software
  • Conduct community outreach to long-term care facilities in order to promote immunization compliance
  • Establishes goals; evaluates and determines project effectiveness
  • Engage in communication with long-term care facility point of contact regarding immunization compliance status


Working Conditions


  • Must be able to participate in emergency response training as scheduled and be available to respond as directed in the event of a public health emergency
  • Primarily in an office setting, with the possibility to occasionally travel to schools and long-term facilities in the Maricopa County

  • Must pass a pre-employment background and/or fingerprint investigation as required by statute or policy, including drug and alcohol testing requirements for positions designated as safety-sensitive
