The Department of Mental Health (DMH) is seeking a motivated Quality Coordinator for Massachusetts Mental Health Center. This position works closely with the Leadership Team at Massachusetts Mental Health Center to coordinate and execute projects and activities related to quality improvement and quality assurance. The position will involve work with confidential materials and sensitive data and is responsible for ensuring center-wide adherence to all departmental quality and risk management policies, procedures, and regulations.
Please Note: This position is 37.5 hours per week. The incumbent will work from 9:00 - 5:00 on Monday through Friday, days off are Saturday and Sunday.
Duties and Responsibilities (these are a general summary and not all inclusive):
- Serves as the MMHC Site liaison to the Metro Boston Area Office and Central Office for Quality related initiatives and activities.
- Contributes to the development and maintenance of Center-wide policies and procedures consistent with regulatory requirements and standards of work.
- Develops and maintains a comprehensive organizational plan, committee structure for the Center, and updated bylaws for professional staff organization.
- Routinely conducts assessments of and gathers data from all departments at MMHC, including Case Management, Clinical Services, Shelter, and other Site-Based Services proactively identifying potential target areas for improvement related to service delivery and quality of care, ensuring that this information is referred for review by MMHC Leadership.
- Coordinates and provides technical assistance and advice around Center-wide guardianship activities, including timely submission of petition documents required by the DMH Legal Office in preparation for probate court hearings.
- Researches, develops, and integrates best practices for service delivery for outpatient community mental health and primary care clinics ensuring compliance with existing federal and state regulations.
- Develops quality management plan for the center and oversees and conducts center-wide continuous quality improvement activities.
Required Qualifications:
- Experience developing new policy and evaluating and updating existing policy
- Capacity to assemble items of information in accordance with established procedures.
- Competence in exercising discretion in handling confidential information
- Ability to analyze and determine the applicability of data, draw conclusions, and make appropriate recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to prepare general reports
- Ability to supervise, including planning and assigning work according to the nature of the job to be accomplished, the capabilities of subordinates and available resources; controlling work through periodic reviews and/or evaluations; determining subordinates' training needs and providing or arranging for such training; motivating subordinates to work effectively; determining the need for disciplinary action and either recommending or initiating disciplinary action
Preferred Qualifications:
- Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.
- Experience with integration of data sets that span a variety of areas.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements re the operation of outpatient mental health services.
- Experience in developing and implementing quality assurance initiatives.
