Job Summary
At BioLegend we are dedicated to commercializing high quality reagents to support the research community for legendary discoveries. The Associate Scientist will work closely with the Director of Quality Control to optimize testing protocols, troubleshoot and technology transfer into QC. The main focus will be for supporting the testing of reagents in flow cytometry and may also include immunohistochemistry. This candidate will also work with members of the Quality Control team and other groups in manufacturing and R&D to troubleshoot issues and streamline testing procedures while maintaining excellent quality standard. We are looking for a dynamic enthusiastic person who can work in a fast-paced environment.
Essential Functions

- Documentation will include IO compliance (SOP, change requests, non-conforming reports)
- Train QC associates on new reagents/assays
- Review routine QC data when escalated and work across teams (PD/QA/manufacturing/ planning) to resolve issues
- Support new testing methods
- Maintain a safe and clean laboratory
- Manufacturing and QC projects
- Work in a BSL2 laboratory
- Support all new documentation (specifications/ SOPs)
- Maintain a safe and clean laboratory
- Support NPI technology transfer (with Product Development to align testing specifications/efficiencies)
- Will develop close relationship
- Attend meetings
- Support new testing methods
- Review and discuss testing specifications
- Train QC associates on new reagents/assays

- Perform and report out results
- Initiate and review SOPs and support any quality audits
- Attend meetings

- Perform data analysis and document results working closely with supervisor
- Perform and report out results
- Work across departments to support new testing methods and determine root causes of issues as they arise in a timely manner
- Perform Quality Control testing of reagents in a timely manner; Bench work may comprise ~50% of time.

- Analyze, implement and support process improvements and Kaizens to increase efficiencies
- Troubleshooting:

- Other projects or responsibilities as may be required.

Minimum Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Proven ability to multi-task with attention to detail
- QC background/ strict adherence to SOPs
- Proven track record of knowledge of immunological techniques and ability to troubleshoot with minimal supervision
- Excellent organization, communication, documentation and problem-solving skills
- BS with> 5 years of laboratory experience; minimum 3 years performing flow cytometry assays (> 4 color)
- Must be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications – Education and Experience
- Industry experience > 3 years ideally with product development or manufacturing experience

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work at BioLegend in San Diego, California is $80,000 to $100,000 annually. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to: the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. BioLegend is a multi-state employer and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.
