About the Role:
Quality Assurance Supervisor will ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements and Food Safety Standards and Policies while ensuring compliance with Customer expectations and internal quality. Responsible for continuous improvement efforts. The Quality Assurance Supervisor may also assume some duties or projects on behalf of the FSQA Manager as needed.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Ensure compliance with customer program requirements and specifications.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Reviews all obtained data to identify trends, reporting positive and/or negative trends to management by generating and reporting KPIs.
- Customer compliance and communications as needed.
- Review production information and Certificate of Analysis.
- Overall operational responsibility for the Quality Assurance Department and associated programs
- Lead internal investigations for process deviations.
- On the production floor involved in operational tasks, GMP compliance, process flow enforcement, and troubleshooting.
- Review and enforce sanitation practices.
- Ensure that laboratory equipment is maintained up to standards.
- Back-Up Recall Coordinator & HACCP Coordinator.
- Monitor MSS completion.
- Assist in the development and implementation of departmental training of Standard Operating Procedures to support the Food Safety Plan.
- Responsible for managing customer complaints by internal communication, conducting complaint investigations, and responding to the customer in a timely manner.
- Support internal Food Safety audits, as well as manage third-party inspections such as FDA, County, City, Organic, SQF, and customer audits.
- Manage environmental monitoring program.
Supervision Exercised :
- Handles discipline of employees as needed and in accordance with company policy.
- Participates in the hiring and training of the team.
- Conducts performance evaluations that are timely and constructive.
- Organizes and oversees the work and schedules of leads and technicians.
- Act as the first line of communication for any QA-related incidents during off hours.
Direct Reports:
QA Leads, Sanitation Leads, QA Technicians, Sanitation Technicians
Qualifications:
- Intermediate in Microsoft Office Suite; Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- 2 years of supervisory experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Chemistry, or Biological Sciences is preferred
- 3 years experience in food safety in a food manufacturing environment preferred.
- HACCP training and certification preferred
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs occasionally
- Ability to perform essential job functions while working in a plant environment with limited climate control and exposure to noise from machinery.
- Certification and application experience in Preventive Controls, SQF, GMP, and HACCP Plans
- PCQI Certification preferred.
