ROLE: QA Manager

Location:2 days on site in Phoenix: 19601 N 27th Ave, Phoenix, AZ 85027 (Must be local to AZ, no relocation please)

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Understand the principles of QA testing processes and use them to analyze, test, implement, maintain, and document testing projects

· Leads the creation of testing strategy and planning for a program. Identifies gaps in testing between current state and future state of application or capability and works to remove those gaps

· Work closely with the Solution Architect, Developers, Application and Business analysts, Project Managers,business and IT teams and external partners to ensure test plan solution meets the quality standards set

· Understands in detail how our business partners work; knowledgeable of current and possible future policies, practices, trends, and information affecting multiple business functions and aspects of how they interrelate to other areas. Ability to analyze, diagnose, suggest, and implement these changes into actionable testing plans and test cases

· Ensures detailed testing requirements are captured from appropriate IT teams. Identifies gaps in testing plan, strategy, and requirements

· Leads defect triage by prioritizing and determining severity for defects based on the impact on the system and business. This includes coordinating with development or vendor for the resolution and retesting of defects

· Guide vendor/contingent resources and ensure deliverables are high quality. Ensure that testing changes are implemented by vendor

· Create and implement the quality assurance strategy, approach, and plan. Create and execute test plans, cases, and scripts to test requirements and acceptance criteria. Identify defects and works to a resolution with developers, vendors, and business teams

· Participate in regular dialogue with IT and business partners to help understand and shape ongoing QA processes, issues, and opportunities for improvement

· Leads UAT efforts with our business partners and IT including creating UAT test plan, kick-offs, data creation, test case management, test executions

JOB COMPLEXITY:

· Technical Depth/Breadth - Possesses broad technical knowledge of many technologies and an in-depth knowledge of applications especially those that relate to the areas responsible for testing. Rapidly learns and masters new technologies.This may include diagnosing a technical situation never encountered before or assessing different solutions to a defect. Possesses strong analytical skills and applies these to testing and troubleshooting.

· Business Knowledge - Requires an in-depth understanding of products, services, and business processes. Should understand the businesses supported.Understands client requirements and their impact on the technical direction of the PetSmart solution.

· Test Case Automation – Identify, plan, and implement testing automation for projects integrating the test scripts into the software development life cycle to ensure testing at each stage of the project.

· Project Delivery – Develops and implements a comprehensive QA strategy; this includes identifying the testing scope, objectives, and deliverables.Consistently plays a key role on a project team.Is a role model for effectively working with internal/external team members.

· Customer Focus – Will be the QA expert in planning sessions and decision points.Seen by partners as an expert resource to handle difficult and complex technical defects on a proactive basis and identify the appropriate resources to address the issue.

· Process improvement – Continuously improves the QA processes through process improvement initiatives and contributes to the QMO/CoE

· Decision Making – Functions independently with limited work direction. May determine the direction work should take, following generally accepted guidelines.Assesses different options and recommends an approach following established methodologies.

· Communication Skills - Communicates confidently and has active listening skills. Exchanges information effectively with IT, business, senior leadership, and vendor partners. Can produce complete components of testing plans.Must be able to deliver process and technical presentations to variety of audience levels and using a variety of mediums.Must be able to present technical and process language into layman’s terms for business and other partners.

· Analytical/Design - Responsible for evaluation, design, and implementation of technologies in their area of expertise and related areas.Responsible for analyzing the performance of technical area, proactively identifying need for version upgrades, capacity changes, etc.Can analyze cross-technology issues.

Experience/Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of script programming (Python, JMeter, JavaScript, etc.)
• Minimum 5-7 years of experience in analyzing, testing, implementing medium to large projects leading testing teams
• Bachelor’s degree - Math, Science, Finance or Computer Science preferred or equivalent work experience
• 2-3 years managing resources
• Experience in building automated regression testing capabilities using an automation framework or model-based automation tool (Tosca)

· Very strong analytical approach to problem solving and test case development

· Ability to create and produce QA metrics for a project

· Ability to design and implement complex testing solutions

· Very strong interpersonal and communication skills

· Very strong analysis/troubleshooting skills, strong partnering/relationship building skills

· Strong presentation skills with experience presenting workshops to facilitate UAT, team meetings and continuous improvement

· Strong customer service orientation and ability to follow through to resolution

NICE TO HAVE:

• Supply chain experience
• Experience with non-functional testing, specifically performance testing
• Retail experience
• Experience with Tricentis Tosca, qTest and Jira
• Experience with testing automation including script and model based (Tosca)
