We are looking for a Purchasing Manager to join our team in one of today’s most exciting technologies. This role will report to the Senior Manager Global Procurement and will be based in San Jose, CA.
The Purchasing Manager will lead the Purchasing activities in support of Sunnyvale Manufacturing. This position will develop a purchasing strategy, review and process purchase orders, improvement initiatives to improve information flow, replenishment timing, material availability, maintain minimal days on hand inventory, recommend inventory levels, input to production schedules and supply plans. In addition, the position will collaborate with manufacturing, commodity managers, the logistics manager and logistics providers to ensure continuous material supply to support our customer demands.
We are looking for an experienced, confident professional with high energy, excellent communication and analytical skills and strong personal drive to succeed.
Role and Responsibilities:
  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies.
  • Establishes the production schedule in the ERP system by firming, releasing and tracking the flow of work orders in the ERP system
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal payment terms
  • Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs. Assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness.
  • Serves as a single point of contact to the Cross Functional organization on material availability status for assigned production work centers
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.
  • Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Partner with stakeholders to ensure clear requirements documentation.
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Works closely with procurement, planning, logistics and other supply chain functions for material status and to align manufacturing plans and material flow
  • Training new employees in the purchasing process and how to use the purchasing system.
Skills and Experience:
  • Solid understanding of/experience with MS Office
  • Interest in market dynamics along with business sense
  • Engineering Degree with certification in Supply Chain, Logistics, Business
  • 6+ years of experience in Production and/or Materials Planning and Scheduling
  • Experienced with Supply Chain analytics and attention to details
  • Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
  • A knack for negotiation and networking
  • Proven working experience as Purchasing Manager, Agent or Officer
  • APICS (ASCM) Certification a plus
  • Ability to gather and analyze data and to work with figures
  • Solid judgement along with decision making skills
  • Strong ERP experience required. Experience using Oracle ERP and Agile PLM software – preferred
  • Strong leadership capabilities
  • Must have good verbal, written, communications skills. Must have proven problem-solving skills and ability to work with close-knit teams in a fast-paced environment

Salary Ranges:
$116,400.00 - $167,600.00
