Job Description

Centennial is seeking a Purchasing Leader for a manufacturer located in the Dayton, OH area. The Purchasing Leader will be responsible for the overall strategic management of the purchasing processes and procedures. Additionally, this person will manage the supply chain operations to maximize efficiency and minimize the cost of the organization’s purchased materials.


Reporting to the Plant Manager, this individual will also oversee employees and systems in the purchasing function across all the organization’s sites.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Lead negotiations, contracts, and buy agreements for all production commodities.
  • Manage relationships, contracts, strategy, and capacity to meet plant needs with critical supply base vendors.
  • Analyze current purchasing and supply chain systems and processes to develop best business practices.
  • Strategic leader for all purchasing functions across the organization.
  • Monitor Customer Directed Sources in regard to price to quote, inventory, capacity, delivery, quality, and inventories.
  • Develop and lead managed systems that enable tracking and equalization of purchase price variance for all commodities related to quote, and price changes.
  • Collaborate with production control and manufacturing to develop metrics for gauging inventory levels.
  • Align goals and functions of the purchasing department based on corporate inventory needs and sales projections.
  • Develop profitable ways to manage obsolete and slow-moving stock to help offset losses.
  • Carry out supervisory/managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.


Education, Skills and Experience:


  • A combination of educational and direct work experience may be considered.
  • Bachelor’s degree plus five to seven (5 to 7) years of direct work-related experience, or 10+ years of progressive manufacturing/purchasing experience required.
  • Management or supervisory experience is required.
