Position
The Purchasing Director is a strategic individual with strong negotiations skills and a background in procurement and inventory control. A strong contributor to EBIT results, in this role, you will oversee a team of six. Your tasks are to achieve budgeted profitability goals, manage inventory control, negotiate contracts and work on forecasting.
Main Duties & Responsibilities
· Develop and achieve the Inventory Business Plan resulting in highest fill rate with lowest inventory
· Manage slow-moving inventory (OSMI) and develop action to decrease inventory
· Build and develop a high performing team
· Negotiate all trade issues with vendors to achieve increased competitive advantage
· Interpret and establish business analytics (KPI’s, Service Level, Inventory Management)
· Formulate ideas and opportunities to generate new revenue opportunities (Rebate Programs / Consignment / VMI / Free Freight)
· Actively participate in S&OP for forecast validation Maximize vendor rebate programs
· Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with C-Suite key stakeholders
· Establishing and maintaining effective communication throughout organization
· Implementing standards, policies, and procedures in the Purchasing department that align with department and corporate goals.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Leadership & Strategic Planning — Strong leadership skills and ability to inspire, mentor and develop a team. Ability to applying pricing strategies and utilizing purchasing systems. Demonstrated experience creating purchasing and procurement policies and procedures. At least 8-10 years of management experience.
Forecasting & Inventory Control — Knowledge of inventory control, reporting and forecasting.
Negotiation – Ability to negotiate contracts for supplies and the procurement of services and finished goods.
Education - Bachelor’s Degree (experience may be substitute for education)
Background in the foodservice equipment industry is an absolute must.
