Bethany is changing the world through family. We began our work by serving one child more than 75 years ago. Today, Bethany is an international Christian nonprofit partnering with communities in more than 30 states and in several countries around the world. We strengthen and preserve families, support displaced people fleeing danger, and find safe, loving families for children who need them. Bethany is at the forefront of creating and implementing solutions to meet the growing needs of vulnerable children and families in the U.S. and around the world.

As a PRS Case Support Worker, you will be primarily responsible for providing check-ins to unaccompanied children recently released from the care of the Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) and their families. The individual will also be responsible for helping children and families with resource referrals, community connections, and case management services.

This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assess the safety and appropriateness of the placement on an ongoing basis using child welfare principles and best practices through phone/video calls, interviews, and home visits;
  • Provide culturally and linguistically appropriate Post Release Services and assist with case management services to children newly released from the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s care;
  • Act as a community liaison to create new community partnerships and establish new resources;
  • Participate in mandatory training requirements and ongoing trainings monthly and annually to meet all federal, state, and agency expectations;
  • Accompany clients or provide telephonic support to facilitate school enrollment and access to community resources, as needed;
  • Attend weekly meetings with supervisor to consult on cases, and to review case plan and direction;
  • Complete and document all required reports, case notes, and case contacts in the appropriate database in accordance with the expected timeframes and requirements of the program;
  • Provide information, referrals, outreach, advocacy, and support to children and families;
  • Perform resource referrals, community connections, and case management services throughout service provision;
  • Serve clients within the entire state of the respective location, as assigned;
  • Stay abreast of all agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements related to social services;
  • Keep abreast of, refer and connect families to available resources on an on-going basis;
  • Develop and maintain positive networking relationships with community partners and resources for families;
  • Maintain confidentiality of all documentation, files, and required record keeping assignments in relations to the population served and/or employees;
  • Provide ongoing administrative and case support to PRS Intervention Specialists throughout services provision;
  • Participate in peer-to-peer support opportunities within the branches for growth and sharing of innovation and case consultation within the sites;
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrate leadership skills in alignment with agency and program values, while also exhibiting a team-player attitude;
  • Computer and typing skills sufficient to perform essential job functions;
  • High School diploma or equivalent with at least one year of case support work experience working with children and youth.
  • Ability to multi-task, be detail-oriented, and organized;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • Subscription to and integration of the agency Statement of Faith, Mission Statement, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Commitment.
  • Active motor vehicle license and maintain a reliable vehicle with adequate insurance coverage;
  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • Bi-lingual English and Spanish, strongly preferred;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Ability to work independently and exercise a high level of confidentiality;
  • Demonstrated ability to service a different group of clients, to include refugees or other minority families;
  • Adheres to all agency and departmental safety procedures including reporting any unsafe practices, equipment and environment, and takes an active role in correcting the unsafe practice, equipment or environment through proper notification channels;

We value and embrace the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion; our culture is strengthened, and our workplace is more dynamic. We are a global organization with multicultural staff, clients, and stakeholders, so we strive to create a workplace that reflects the communities we serve and where everyone feels empowered to bring their full, authentic selves to work. More work remains, but we are deeply committed to honestly acknowledging and addressing the impacts of race and racism throughout the organization. This work can be uncomfortable and even painful, but we believe that the greatest challenges bear the greatest rewards.
