About The Program And Position


  • In conjunction with The Department of Services for Children, Youth and Their Families (DSCYF) the Home and Community Based Treatment and Supports (HCBTS) Program provides Therapeutic Support for Families. Services are available to youth under the age of 18 either individually or in a family and/or group setting in conjunction with other treatment services but may, in some instances, be the only service provided.
  • Therapeutic Support for Families (TSF) services are tailored to help improve emotional regulation, build communication skills, improve family relationships, and build coping skills. Structured outings and activities between the youth and families will allow both to demonstrate the acquisition of skills and apply them in real life with support and coaching from the TSF worker. Additionally, the TSF worker works in alignment with the goals outlined in the youth’s and family’s treatment plan to provide specific interventions and activities to obtain these goals.
  • Under the supervision of the Assistant Director of HCBTS, the Therapeutic Support for Families (TSF) worker provides weekly psycho-educational, therapeutic and supportive services for youth and families who are eligible for services from the Division of Prevention and Behavioral Health Services (DPBHS).
  • The TSF also aids in connecting families with any needed resources including but not limited to: referring them to a mental health or substance abuse treatment, assisting the family’s basic needs, and strengthening their support network.


How You Get To Use Your Skills…


  • Assist administrative staff in collection of outcome data, utilization reviews, and obtaining the proper authorization to ensure continued services
  • Implement tools and activities as outlined in the youth's clinical treatment plan that aims to strengthen the youth’s behavior management, communication skills, coping skills, problem-solving and/or study skills
  • Attend required training on evidence-based practices and maintain current knowledge of trends in the field.
  • Work with youth and family in a variety of settings, including but not limited to home, school and community. Meet with caregivers and/or youth individually or in family and/or group settings.
  • Carry an assigned caseload and partner with families to assess needs and implement treatment interventions and services as outlined in the youth's clinical treatment plan
  • Modifies interventions to meet the needs of youth and family
  • Works in collaboration with assigned clinicians as applicable. Knowledge of community resources, services, and supports for youth and families
  • Provide direct intervention to youth and family including but not limited to role play, behavior modification, skill building, social skills training, problem-solving skills, parenting skills, crisis de-escalation skills...
  • Responsible for maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of Protected Health Information of service recipients in any form (e.g., computer access, conversation, document) during and surviving the termination, expiration or cancellation of employment/association with Cayuga Centers
  • Include TSF goals in the youth and family’s treatment plan with the projected frequency and length of service, along with the specific interventions and activities in the attainment of these goals.
  • Responsible for complying with rules and regulations governing access to Protected Health Information under HIPAA. Access to Protected Health Information is limited to the extent required to perform responsibilities effectively and efficiently. No access will be permitted unnecessarily. These essential job functions dictate the level of access, use, and disclosure of confidential information
  • Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor, program leadership and CEO as needed
  • Perform the basic accountability tasks related to the job, which include compiling and maintaining all necessary records and maintaining HIPAA security standards


Schedule: Non-Exempt


  • Evenings, weekends and on-call required.
  • Regular hours entail a flexible schedule with 40 hours per week.


Experience And Skills


  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in social work, psychology or a related human services field preferred.
  • Adaptable and flexible to meet the needs of the youth and family
  • Valid DE Driver’s License and safe and dependable vehicle required.
  • Ability to travel to other agency locations as required
  • Understanding of child development and practice of positive parenting techniques.
  • Effective stress management, general behavior interventions, de-escalation and crisis intervention practices.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as contribute to a team.
  • Applicants with associate’s degrees and a minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience may be considered.
  • Ability to build rapport, connect and create trusting relationships with families and assess their needs.
  • Knowledge of or ability to research available community resources and ability to access resources.
  • Capacity to teach and/or model positive behavior, techniques, and skills including
