Sesame Workshop is looking for a Proposal Development Specialist / Senior Grant Writer, Philanthropic Development. The specialist supports the Philanthropic Development group’s efforts to secure funding for the Workshop’s international initiatives from private foundations and government agencies. This position is responsible for a wide range of activities involved in grant management, the most significant of which is donor outreach and relationship cultivation, writing proposals and concept notes and letters of inquiry. This position may include routine contact with funders. Candidate must have excellent writing, organization, and verbal communication skills. Candidate must be a team player and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
Please note: This job is a 3 month contract with a possible extension and will be located in our NYC office. We are a hybrid environment. Local candidates, please.
Responsibilities
- Attend team meetings and serve as a resource on funder requirements and grant deliverables
- Track grant and all prospect activity in Salesforce
- Work collaboratively with international social impact teams and country offices on project planning for proposals
- Carry out ongoing and cultivate new relationships with donors and partners as they relate to Welcome Sesame.
- Support prospect and other research for our Welcome Sesame initiative
- Manage and develop protocols for the timely submission of proposals
- Write strong and compelling grant proposals and concept notes for foundations and government agencies;
- Conduct competitive analysis for opportunities supporting both country and home offices as they relate to Welcome Sesame
- Manage/support the contracting process as needed
Qualifications
- B.A. degree or equivalent experience with 5-10 years of international development and fundraising experience; humanitarian experience preferred.
- Proficiency in MS word, Excel, Outlook, Sales Force and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of the international humanitarian funding landscape (including institutional, corporate, and foundations)
- Strong online research skills
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Excellent writing capacity, particularly for international development program proposals
- Strong written communication and partner engagement skills
