PROJECT SPECIALIST - ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT


The Legal Division of the Legislative Counsel Bureau of the State of Nevada is seeking


qualified applicants for the position of Project Specialist-Administrative Support. The Legal


Division is a nonpartisan office which is part of the central staff of the Nevada Legislature,


which meets biennially beginning on the first Monday in February of odd-numbered years


for 120 days. The Legal Division prepares and drafts legislation and legal opinions, provides


legal counsel to legislative committees during the legislative session and interim, works with


Executive Branch agencies to prepare and review administrative regulations, represents the


Legislature and Legislators in court and other proceedings and provides other assistance to


Legislators upon request. The Legal Division is also responsible for preparing and publishing


the Advance Sheets of Nevada Statutes, the Statutes of Nevada, the Nevada Revised Statutes,


the Nevada Administrative Code and other official publications of the Legislature and also


produces and distributes the Official Nevada Law Library, the searchable and hyperlinked


electronic version of the legal publications and other documents.


Position Description: The Project Specialist's primary role is to provide administrative


support to staff of the Legal Division, assist and fill in for the receptionist and perform the


duties of a committee secretary. Responsibilities include various administrative tasks, such


as processing continuing education requests and travel arrangements and claims, stocking


and ordering office supplies, receiving, sorting and delivering mail, acting as a notary public,


filing, copying, typing, scanning, filing completed documents with the Secretary of State and


the Courts, planning and coordinating meetings and events, transcribing and proofing


committee meeting minutes, and other duties as assigned.


Qualifications: The successful candidate must have a high school diploma or equivalent.


Experience in a professional office is desirable. Ability to become a notary public is required.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Applicants should have knowledge and experience with


Microsoft Office, superior attention to detail, and strong grammar and spelling skills. The


successful candidate should also have excellent telephone etiquette and communication


skills; must present a professional public image, both in person and over the phone; must


maintain confidentiality of documents and communications; be able to accept and adapt to


changes in work environment and priorities; and be able to work independently and within a


group. SALARY AND Benefits: The salary for this position is based on a Grade 31, which has an annual


salary of approximately $49,047 to $72,119, based upon the employee/employer paid


retirement option. Employees receive the same benefits available to state employees


generally, which includes paid annual leave, paid sick leave, health insurance and retirement


benefits. An explanation of the retirement options and information regarding state retirement

optional benefits are also available, including a deferred compensation program.


WORKING CONDITIONS: Work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. This


position is located in the Legislative Building in Carson City, Nevada. The work is performed


in a typical office environment. Significant overtime may be required during legislative


sessions and during certain other periods as necessary to meet the demands of the Legal


Division.
