Project Hire - Associate Merchandising Manager

Be Part of the Story at The Walt Disney Company in the Project Hire Associate Merchandising Manager. This exciting role will act as the strategist and producer of the product line for the Disney Cruise Line categories where we work with sourcing, planning, creative and product design to ensure the highest quality, consumer focused, trend right product lines that build brand equity and meet financial targets. This role reports to the Senior Manager, Brand Merchandising.

This is a 12-Month Project Hire position with no guarantee of permanent placement.

You will:

• Understand and support the specific event/experience segmentation at the right price/value from bridge to premium
• Assist in building compelling stories to sell in and create solutions to drive the brand vision and grow sales
• Drive the daily implementation of the Disney Cruise Line merchandise product strategy along with the Merchandise Manager or Senior Manager for Disney Cruise Line
• Assist in the development of a consumer-focused product strategy that is commercially viable and delivers a specific targeted look and feel for brand/ category
• Partner with Product Design and Sourcing to deliver seasonal product lines that meet business objectives including sustainability goals
• Establish perspective on what’s working and why to consistently improve the product line
• Lead the weekly cross-functional team meetings showing up as compelling, dynamic, and knowledgeable in all stages of go to market process and partner interactions where the product is discussed
• Collaborate with Product Design on assortments where they are leading the design and gain their feedback/advice on assortments where you are working directly with suppliers
• Partner with Site partners, Events creators, and Marketing teams to bring our content and Intellectual Property to life accurately and with a consistent brand point of view
• Execute against opportunities to leverage products, co-brands, and collaborations across events/premium experiences
• Find commonality in consumer, customer, and market trends to minimize excess / cannibalization; identify areas to reduce complexity and increase efficiency while championing our diversity and inclusion goals through the right product and personal growth
• Consolidate the product needs from all regions and channels to develop one product brief to design ensuring needs of all businesses are met
• Approve samples for fit, fabrication, art placement, and quality ensuring the desired aesthetic is achieved
• Relentlessly monitor the global competitive landscape and consumer zeitgeist to gain opportunity

You will have:

• Proven track record to build, leverage and scale innovation
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to influence a diverse audience including experience working with external partners and business owners to bring product and assortments to the market
• Proven ability to be a brand steward and maintain brand and product integrity
• Strong Teammate – The ability to build & foster collaborative partnerships across functions & departments
• Strategic problem solver with the ability to drive execution against a financial plan
• 2+ years of progressive experience in Product Merchandising,
• Experience in building a product line for a category or categories of business
• Proven ability to capitalize on market trends and consumer zeitgeist to improve value creation throughout the trend cycle
• Successful experience working, and thriving, in a highly matrixed company structure
• Collaborative and effective communicator
