Project Engineer Jobs

Wharton-Smith, Inc. is currently seeking an experienced Project Engineer to work in the Water/Wastewater Division in the Jacksonville, FL. The successful candidate will be responsible for the completion of specific project tasks as assigned by the Project Manager. In this position, the candidate will interface with the estimating division (Project Engineers will gain/enhance experience in estimating), Project Assistant (administrative functions are required to complete many assigned tasks) and the Project Superintendent as well as the Project Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain as-built drawings.
• Visits project sites to monitor progress conformance to plans and standards.
• Maintain and update schedules.
• Identify need for and write RFI’s.
• Prepare, review and process shop drawings.
• Coordinating with Subcontractors and Vendors.
• Collect and assemble O&M materials.
• Contract document distribution to job site, vendors and subcontractors.
• Maintain project logs (i.e. Submittal Log, RFI log, etc.).
• Material purchasing and expediting.
• Provide the Project Manager with support and accurate information to maximize project management effectiveness.
• Primarily performs duties in planning for environmental projects for water and wastewater treatment facilities and pump stations.
• Document distribution.
• Value engineering design and proposals.
• Coordinate facility startup activities.
• Purchase Order and Subcontract Scope analysis and drafting.

Qualifications:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or other relevant degree.
• 1-2 years of experience as Project Engineer preferred.
