Job Description

The Director, Storage Development will lead a broad range of development and prospecting activities for projects within ENGIE North America’s (ENA) portfolio of utility-scale renewable energy assets across the United States. This individual will work across the development and technical teams in order to develop a region-based market entry strategy for ENA’s utility-scale renewable energy portfolio. A specific emphasis on prospecting and optimizing project investments in order to return the highest value development assets to ultimately fulfill the company's renewable energy aspirations and growth strategy within North America.


The position is located in Denver, CO, Houston, TX, Oakland, CA and Santa Barbara, CA and it is eligible to work in many locations across the U.S. The Director reports to Chief Development Officer, VP Grid-Scale Renewables.


What you’ll do:


  • Support energy offtake, financing, and project M&A discussions, including due diligence activities
  • Lead a team focused on strategy for the Grid Scale Renewables business
  • Coordinate with internal financial modeling in establishing business case for each greenfield project
  • Represent company in industry advocacy groups
  • Select, manage, and direct third party consultants and review their reports
  • Remain abreast of renewable energy opportunities in the United States and the national industry trends impacting the future of solar and renewable development opportunities and their competitiveness as they relate to customers
  • Evaluate viability of early stage and acquisition projects
  • Represent ENGIE at national solar and renewable energy events as speaker, panelist and solar energy leader
  • Coordinate with internal departments (commercial strategy, development regions, interconnection, etc..) and external parties in the development and execution of ENA’s utility-scale energy strategy
  • Analyze market dynamic and interconnection queues to optimize ENA’s storage strategy
  • Carry out other duties as assigned.

What you bring:


  • Results-oriented leader with the ability to work independently within a large matrixed organization while effectively interfacing with the various cross-functional employee groups.
  • Minimum 10 years related experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental, Business Administration or Economics preferred
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills and high level of attention to detail with the ability to present to a wide range of audiences, including landowners, potential offtakers, government officials, and corporate leaders
  • General understanding of market trends and resulting impacts on project development
  • Proven record of accomplishment in renewable energy development, including experience taking projects through financing.
  • Strong desire to advance the adoption and deployment of renewable energy solutions across North America.

The pay range for this role is: $120,700 - $307,190. The listed salary range represents ENGIE’s good faith estimate for this position and represents the minimum and maximum for new hire salaries across all U.S. locations. An employee’s rate of pay within the range is determined by their work location, and additional factors, including qualifications, relevant experience, and demonstrated performance over time. In addition to those factors, we believe in the importance of pay equity and consider internal equity of our current team members as a part of any final offer. Please keep in mind that the range stated above is the full base salary range for the role. Hiring at the maximum of the range would not be typical in order to allow for future and continued salary growth. This position is eligible for our comprehensive and competitive benefits package and certain positions are eligible for additional forms of compensation such as bonuses and commissions. ENGIE complies with all federal, state, and local minimum wage laws.
