Responsibilites

Applications and Platforms Technology position provides program leadership focused on one or multiple application portfolios. This individual will be responsible for working within Applications and Platforms leaders, facility leaders, clinical leaders, and strategic partners across Ascension Technologies. They will define, prioritize, resource and direct the projects and programs aligning to that functional technology tower, ensuring they are implemented according to organizational objectives and standards.

  • Drives disciplined project management methodology that supports both agile and waterfall project methodologies to insure high quality, on budget, and on schedule deliverables.
  • Collaborates on needs analysis for customer service, upgrades or changes to systems. Recommends cost-effective hardware/software solutions.
  • Hires, trains and manages assigned staff.
  • Strong coordination with Application and Platforms Leaders, AT PMO, and AT Finance to ensure consistent budgetary alignment and executive level reporting.
  • Directs, develops, and presents to management various analyses that include organization, systems, feasibility and cost/benefit studies, implementation plans. Exercises judgment and influence on key technical decisions, standards, policies, environment selection, architecture, data flows and technical solutions.
  • Manages the programs and projects in the given portfolio, often through subordinate program and project managers. Ensuring resources and organization structure are in place and operating effectively; and anticipating conflicting needs and proactively resolving them.
  • Develops program goals and infrastructure to align with the portfolio’s defined business strategy.
  • Advanced presentation, communication, and negotiation skills are essential.
  • Within the scope of the job, requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful and remote environment.
  • Must be able to translate highly complex technology to all levels of AT and business operation leaders.
  • Resources may be FTEs, 3rd party contractors, MSPs including onshore or offshore across multiple time zones, including international.
  • Coach and develop the program and project managers in the portfolio
  • Drives AVP and construction tower roadmap demands through pre project discovery and design process
  • Ultimate responsibility for a portfolio of 40 to 60 concurrent projects with a value between $40M and $60M
  • Operating 7/24 command centers for project go lives
  • Assist in establishing project management standards and processes with in Apps & Plats and with other towers
  • Accountable for the performance of the program and project managers under their portfolio
  • Present portfolio status for projects, budgets, and issues to the tower AVP.
  • Correct programs and projects that are failing and return them to successful completion
  • Forecasting project expenses for AVP, AT Finance and Ministry Finance
  • Interview and select program and project managers
  • Assign duties to the program and project manages
  • Assist the tower AVP in managing the tower capital budget and project roadmap
  • Evaluate the project and program managers under thor portfolio
  • Skilled at managing global delivery resource with varied time schedules and cultural nuances
  • Proficient in ServiceNow, Tablo, Smartsheets, Peoplesoft, and Google tools and developing reports and analysis using these tools
  • Work variable non business hours in support of implementations and in response to issues and urgent needs
  • Assist the program and project managers with escalations and with the delivery of the projects
  • Set performance expectations for the program and project managers
  • Responsibility for management of 10 to 20 project and program managers


Requirements

Education:
  • High School diploma equivalency with 3 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Bachelor's degree with 2 years of cumulative experience OR 7 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • 3 years of leadership or management experience preferred.


Additional Preferences

  • 1 year of leadership preferred.
  • 5-10 years of experience is preferred.
  • 5 years experience leading remote teams.
  • At least 5 years experience leading programs and projects in a large complex multi hospital, multi vendor environment is preferred.
