Job Description

Women’s Business Center (WBC) at JEDI Program Director Position Announcement


The Women’s Business Center at JEDI was designated in 2014 andincreases the vitality of people and communities through spirited and skillful business development, equitable capital access, and local wealth creation opportunities. We offer training, mentorship, expert guidance, access to resources, and community-building to the underserved small business owners of far Northern California with an intent to connect people, community, and opportunities to support the growth of thriving businesses and a resilient local economy.


The WBC maintains two offices serving the North state in Mount Shasta and second office in Redding, CA.


WBC at JEDI Purpose:

The purpose of this program is to provide resources and tools to ensure women entrepreneurs are on the right track for economic stability through small business ownership. We deliver critical business training and support services to assist socially and economically diverse women and men starting and expanding small and micro businesses in the far northern mostly rural region of CA. Established in 2014, the WBC at JEDI was awarded the United Way Equity Award for our WBC efforts in the CA North state this year.


Position Summary:

The WBC at JEDI Program Director is a full-time leadership position managing programs under the WBC grant and maintaining our relationship with the US SBA Office of Women’s Business Ownership (OWBO), ensuring grant and deliverable excellence. This position is responsible for overall coordination, expansion, and delivery of our business education and financial awareness programs in order to meet and exceed program deliverables and ensure customer satisfaction. This is a hybrid role based in Redding, CA with a minimum of 3 days on site per week.


Primary Responsibilities:

1. Program planning, development and implementation of business education, financial awareness and outreach programs, provide workshop facilitation, business outreach, one-on-one client counseling, planning logistics, networking events, client interaction, program creation/management/evaluation, reporting requirements, and scheduling.

a. Develop program plans to ensure grant obligations are met and impact realized

b. Integrate with partner programs and services to ensure success for WBC clients

c. Track effectiveness of programs

d. Report to WBC Advisory and JEDI boards on WBC program

e. Maintain and implement annual program planning schedule (spreadsheet available)

2. Business Training and Consulting

a. Deliver business workshops and webinars as needed

b. Provide business consulting as needed

3. Program Marketing and Outreach

a. Work closely with Marketing Director and JEDI ED at times to ensure marketing efforts reach target markets, fill classes and workshops and represent WBC well.

b. Effectively communicate goals of WBC at JEDI in community meetings

c. Build community partnerships – especially with private industry including banks, local businesses, chambers and service clubs, other SBA Resource partners such as the Small Business Development Centers, etc. and the Women in Business Networks

d. Participate actively in the CA WBC Network

4. Program Staff and Consultant Management

a. Hire and fire program staff and consultants with JEDI Executive Director

b. Manage and train program staff

c. Facilitate collaborative approaches to build a high-functioning team

d. Lead effective program meetings

e. Create opportunities for staff development and training

5. Grant Administration

a. Co-develop and manage all WBC program administrative and budget needs

b. Ensure that SBA budget expenditures are properly disbursed and documented

c. Keep accurate and consistent records of client activity

d. Complete and submit quarterly and annual reports as requested by both SBA district and federal offices to ensure compliance with and adherence to all SBA regulations and requirements.

e. Ensure programs are tracked for effectiveness and meeting WBC goals/milestones

f. Attend SBA and AWBC (Association for Women’s Business Centers) conference calls, webinars and training conferences


Skills & Qualifications:

· Passion for equity, justice, and inclusion as well as aspects of JEDI’s and WBC mission

· Experience in a nonprofit organization and grant management

· Experience managing people humanely and to achieve goals, success, and fulfillment

· Ability to implement administrative processes and program plans successfully to achieve outcomes

· Excellent organizational skills and ability to follow systems and procedures

· Ability to manage staff and work collaboratively with the administrative team.

· Demonstrated skills in program development, outreach, marketing, and client interaction

· Ability to identify priorities, take initiative and make clear recommendations to ensure successful delivery of programs, services, reporting and customer service

· General knowledge of microenterprise/small business development and business concepts

· Willingness to travel and work evening or irregular hours as needed to meet client needs

· Adaptable and able to respond to changes in the working environment

· Solid written and verbal communication skills

· Work independently and exercise good judgment in a team environment

· First-hand experience and compassion for the WBC’s target groups (underserved, marginalized, low-income, rural, women of color) of women business owners, understanding their needs, wants, values, and goals.

· Preferably bi-lingual in Spanish


Requirements:

· Minimum bachelor's degree in business or similar field or 5 years equivalent experience.

· Two years of experience working in a non-profit or government agency preferred.

· Experience working in microenterprise or small business development and/or nonprofit organization community-based development.

· Computer and technology proficiency and excellent writing skills a must

· Experience with Microsoft Suite Software including OneDrive, SharePoint, and Outlook

· Experience with budget management and basic accounting.

· Ability to travel within far Northern California attend community events, serve clients and oversee staff in both Redding and Mount Shasta, CA


Reporting Structure:The Program Director reports to JEDI’s Executive Director and works closely with the Knowledge Manager and Marketing Director to ensure consistent and effective program delivery and activity/outcome tracking for WBC.


Management Responsibilities:

This position will supervise all the direct service staff under the WBC. (All HR is handled by the host). It will also work closely with the Marketing Director and the Knowledge Manager who are each in support of the WBC program but supervised by the JEDI executive director.


Working Arrangement:

Base office will depend on what part of region applicant lives in. The WBC at JEDI has offices in Mount Shasta and Redding, CA. A schedule will be built to be present in both offices, accommodate travel around the region and could eventually include a hybrid work situation if needed.


The WBC at JEDI staff also have flexible working arrangements. They work primarily from home at this time but are open to a schedule of time in the Redding office. The Intake Specialist works full-time and is based in the office. All staff provide services under the WBC across the whole territory, not just the office they are based out of. The WBC at JEDI currently maintains a staff of 8 with 2 to be hired.

Salary range depends on experience

$65,000 to $75,000 based on experience
