Job Description
Salary range is $6,250 - $7,083.33 per month ($75,000 - $85,000 yearly)


FUNCTION OF THE UNIT


The Live Well Center for Innovation and Leadership is a formal partnership between the County of San Diego and San Diego State University (SDSU) to strengthen the linkage between health and human services practice and its academic base. This effort will be essential to enhancing education, training, research, and service. The Center has a steering committee comprised of both County and SDSU leaders and subcommittees featuring employees from both partners.


PURPOSE OF THE POSITION


This full-time position will serve as a liaison between SDSU College of Health and Human Services (CHHS) and San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency (HHSA) as part of the Live Well Center for Innovation and Leadership (a unique Academic HHSA). The position will support key collaborative projects and endeavors and allow for scientific and programmatic interchange between organizations.


Position Specific Responsibilities


SDSU Responsibilities (50%)


Institutional Relations (15%)


  • Coordinate efforts across CHHS’ five schools; ensure school directors and appropriate faculty and staff receive communications relating to LWCIL
  • Provide reports and regular updates to CHHS Dean regarding efforts and tasks
  • Represent LWCIL within CHHS; communicate with and present to faculty and staff as appropriate
  • Engage with CHHS, school internship/practicum coordinators, leadership to lead internal organizational and planning efforts, including compliance policies, risk management and service learning agreements


Organizational Planning (30%)


  • Lead project administration including supporting strategic program planning and management; working with SDSU project teams to promote community engagement; project reporting; and leading logistics and event planning.
  • Provide leadership and coordination within CHHS and SDSU


Other Duties (5%)


  • Perform other related duties as required


Joint Responsibilities with County HHSA (50%)


Administration (20%)


  • Develop LWCIL partnership annual report
  • Help maintain LWCIL website, develop communications materials, and ensure timely communication of information relevant to the LWCIL partnership
  • Respond to internal and external inquiries for information about the LWCIL partnership
  • Serve on LWCIL steering committee and coordinate committee meetings
  • Facilitate interaction and collaboration among partners
  • Process affiliation agreements between the organizations and other partners
  • Serve as the liaison between CHHS and County of San Diego HHSA, and build the relationship between those organizations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for LWCIL partnership activities
  • Engage in strategic planning for the LWCIL partnership, and help to establish goals and objectives for partnership programs
  • Coordinate all aspects of administration of the LWCIL partnership
  • Lead project administration including supporting strategic program planning and management; working with LWCIL project teams to promote community engagement; project reporting; and leading logistics and event planning.


People (10%)
  • Serve on workforce development committee or other committees relevant to LWCIL partnership activities
  • Liaise with the primary point(s) of contact for the internship activities with the County
  • Develop and maintain internship program materials
  • Coordinate internships process across CHHS schools
  • Work with HHSA departments to develop and maintain a list of internships and projects
  • Prepare students for internship placements with the County
  • Internships
  • Facilitate subject matter and workforce training
  • Work with HHSA HR to ensure up-to-date intake, orientation, and evaluation processes for internships
  • Oversee and evaluate internship experiences in coordination with County including preceptor education and training


Data (10%)


  • Facilitate LWCIL-related collaborative research activities with respective HHSA departmental point of contact, including related data sharing and data access agreements
  • Coordinate needs assessments for resources needed for collaborative projects
  • Facilitate technical assistance and consultation to each party as appropriate
  • Maintain a listing of shared projects, resources and publications


Community Relations (5%)


  • Build and maintain active relationships with community partners and stakeholders
  • Work on joint community initiatives
  • Engage with stakeholders to promote partnerships and excellence in programmatic work and public health practice, assisting in the development and implementation of health initiatives.
  • Participate in appropriate boards, task forces, and other advisory groups

Minimum Education


  • Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent training and administration work experience involving study, analysis, and/or evaluation leading to the development or improvement of administrative policies, procedures, practices, or programs.


Minimum Experience


  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in office or administrative environment.


Preferred Qualifications and Special Skills


  • Knowledge of health and human services practice
  • Demonstrated experience developing and writing funded grants and contracts
  • Strong grasp of health equity and health disparity concepts
  • Ability to effectively network and advocate
  • Experience partnering with community-based organizations
