Job Description
Professional Learning Consultant (Part-time)

NWEA® has a need for Professional Learning Consultants. These essential and exciting roles are part-time. With your blend of skills, experience, and passion for education coupled with a robust onboard training and continuous development plan, you’ll be fully prepared and equipped to meet and exceed the demands of the role and high expectations of our partner schools. The positions have high delivery volumes in September, October, November, and possibly, January, April, and May. These roles require a blend of virtual/remote and on-site workshop delivery so versatility in skill sets and the ability to travel by airplane, car or other modes of public transportation are necessary. The daily rate for each full day on-site workshop will be $700 per day. Hourly rates apply to any virtual/remote delivery. If you are interested in this type of employment opportunity, please apply directly.

About this role
Professional Learning Consultants deliver high quality, engaging workshops focused on NWEA’s MAP adaptive assessments and other highly relevant content and impactful solutions for NWEA partners. They empower teachers and administrators to effectively use data to promote student learning by defining growth targets, differentiating instruction, and informing intervention strategies and more. Facilitators are on the front lines with key educational stakeholders, directly supporting NWEA’s mission: Partnering to help all kids learn. NWEA’s assessment data is a powerful tool to improve student learning and requires dynamic individuals to help interpret, train, and inspire partner district teachers to use this data effectively.

Your next challenge
  • Travel as necessary; expenses reimbursed by NWEA
  • Work collaboratively with the Manager of Professional Learning Services to ensure delivery of successful professional learning events
  • Attain and maintain NWEA qualification status in designated workshops by participating in required online and/or in-person learning events and completing necessary coursework
  • Facilitate professional learning workshops for partners as they implement NWEA’s products and services; use adult learning strategies and other inquiry-based activities to ensure participant engagement, understanding of content and application of material learned to their work
  • Facilitate professional learning content effectively and accurately, gauging the learners’ needs.
  • Submit appropriate documentation and reports within specified timeframes
  • Conduct planning conversations about the events with partners relative to professional development needs

  • Strong problem-solving skills, situational awareness, and sound judgment to adapt professional learning opportunities to changing environments and partner needs
  • Experience supporting schools/districts in the school improvement process
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience conducting professional learning opportunities to a wide audience of professionals. Professional Learning Facilitators are not merely delivering a canned presentation; they engage the audience with enthusiasm, discussion, and hands-on adult learning approaches
  • Experience with NWEA products and services highly preferred
  • Comfort with online learning and delivery modalities. Examples include webinars, virtual collaborative workspaces, wikis, web-conferences, learning in an online classroom, and learning management systems
  • Experience working with educators in the use of formative assessment
