Job Description
:
JOB PURPOSE
Provide copyediting, proofreading, and project management support to facilitate on-time and as-planned Tangerine Press products that spark kids’ imagination, joy, and love of reading.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Editorial Project Management
  • Prepare and track international sales solicitations.
  • Prepare and maintain product files in Scholastic databases.
  • Prepare and maintain product specification sheets.
  • Assist with trafficking and monitoring editorial production from manuscript to bound copy, including preparing and maintaining master schedules and uploading and tracking digital review files.
  • Maintain the master product catalogue.
2. Oversee Copyediting and Proofreading for TP Products
  • Hire and manage freelance copyeditors and proofreaders as needed.
  • Maintain the TP style guide.
  • Perform copyediting and proofreading for TP products, presentations, and other documents.
3. Manage Department Administration
  • Coordinate shipping of product samples and advances to key stakeholders.
  • Prepare and process writer contracts.
4. Other editorial administrative duties as required.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE
  • BA/BS degree preferred.
  • Strong familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style preferred.
  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills, with both inside and outside collaborators, stakeholders, and team members.
  • Strong organization and planning skills.
  • Three (3) years of work or academic experience in production editorial or copyediting.
  • Ability to quickly learn and implement new software.
