Salary is up to $39 per hour (c. $81,120 per year), based on experience

3+ years’ experience in editorial project management on books, preferably in adult trade publishing

Solid copyediting and proofreading skills with strong knowledge of Chicago Manual of Style

Manages reprint corrections and paperback editions

Strong computer/MS Word skills and familiarity with databases and Adobe Acrobat and Kindle Previewer

Knowledge of electronic copyediting and styling and PDF markup

Excellent organizational skills, with an aptitude for following processes and problem solving

Hire and manage freelance copyeditors and proofreaders as needed.

Three (3) years of work or academic experience in production editorial or copyediting.

Strong organization and planning skills.

Excellent collaboration, communication, and presentation skills, with both inside and outside collaborators, stakeholders, and team members.

Prepare and maintain product files in Scholastic databases.

Prepare and maintain product specification sheets.

Above-average capacity for organization, time management, and multi-tasking, along with the ability to balance multiple priorities simultaneously

Manages the production of 60-100 titles of digital, online, and print content per year

Prioritizes project workflow and manages multiple projects in order to meet deadlines

Tracks project costs and communicates to production manager when projects surpass budget goals

Identifies potential freelance candidates; gauges skillsets; evaluates rates and bids; and coordinates onboarding, communicating feedback to new contractors

Experience with academic publishing workflows and comfortable working within an expanding digital workflow system

● Facilitating editorial workflows using custom CMS and project management tools

● Updating, optimizing, enhancing, and consolidating existing content per SEO recommendations

● Ensuring content is accurate and of high quality

● Managing and editing assignments delegated to freelance writers

Minimum of three years’ experience in a production editorial environment or equivalent editing and project management experience

Excellent copyediting, proofreading, and organizational skills

Knowledge of The Chicago Manual of Style

Strong communication and writing skills

Previous experience working on complex nonfiction books a plus

Works on and reviews all phases of text from manuscript through blues (copyedits, proofreads, reviews all freelanced work, etc.)

Handles book production from copyedit through finished product, including eBooks

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

Thorough knowledge of video script writing, direction, remote and studio requirements (personnel and equipment).

MINIMUM EDUCATION, TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Consults with central and school-based administrators regarding specialized projects; processes requests for studio or remote videography.

Thorough knowledge of video production theory, principles, practices, operations, procedures and equipment.

Thorough knowledge of complete editing practices, video-related computer operations.

B.A. in English or journalism, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Strong knowledge of English grammar and usage, and solid proofreading skills

Implement consistent document-control procedures and help manage the document file system

5-8+ years editorial, PR, journalism, or marketing communications experience

Confident communicator with excellent interpersonal and diplomatic skills

Experience using style and grammar references, including Chicago Manual of Style

Comfortable using task management software (Trello)

Experience with Adobe software suite, primarily Photoshop preferred.

Familiarity with automotive systems, marques, and terminology; comfort with in-house style guide usage; knowledge of AP Stylebook and MLA standards.

Article posting to CMS, editorial archiving, and copy editing

Optimizing photography and other assets for digital publication, social media, advertising, and print publications

Optimizing articles for SEO within the CMS

Proficient self-management skills and ability to effectively prioritize tasks for time management.

May interface with management to convey information.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Manages data integrity and process standardization with regard to complaint and related-VOC data.

Supports creation of consistent response language in collaboration with business partners and manages the central repository for storage and dissemination
