Producer, Abc News Live (Project Hire)

ABC News Live Prime, the most awarding winning program in streaming news is looking for an extremely creative, and eager candidate who thinks outside the box. This role is best suited for a technologically adept person who has a passion for immersive storytelling, the time management skills of a daily news crasher, long form magazine sensibilities and wants to help build the next generation of news.

Responsibilities:

The main role of the Prime Producer is to develop, shoot, write, and work in tandem with a Senior producer to oversee edits of longform video projects from start to finish. Projects can include 8-10 minute pieces that take weeks or shorter packages that are turned in a tighter timeframe.

Producer will also assist in producing day of news projects such as: readers and segments with notable guests (political candidates, experts, analysts, contributors, authors, actors, stakeholders connected to big story of the day, etc.).

Basic Requirements:

• Working knowledge of cameras and related gear.
• A minimum of 3 years of experience at producer level with a proven track record at well-regarded network, production company, or equivalent.
• Communication skills (written and verbal) – ability to effectively communicate and interact with people at various levels and in various disciplines of business and production.
• Experience with breaking news and longform content.
• Extensive production experience and excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to travel nationally and internationally as needed, sometimes with short notice.
• Must feel comfortable crashing, and enjoy fast-paced breaking environment.
• Entrepreneurial, strong self-starting approach to work.
• Working knowledge of Avid editing systems or equivalent.
• A willingness to work different shifts, as needed, and thrive under daily deadline pressures. Open to working long hours, weekends.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Driver’s license preferred.

Required Education:

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.

The hiring range for this position in New York is $99,400- $136,730. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
