Job Summary


Performs duties associated with the buying process. This individual will be responsible for purchasing and planning for assigned product classes and general department needs. The Buyer is a generalist on the product class(es) as it relates to the product that is purchased as well as the vendor that is producing. Responsible for pro-actively planning the purchases for appropriate inventory and safety stock levels, following up on purchase orders, production, and delivery from assigned suppliers. Work closely with Director of Purchasing to ensure the on-time delivery of goods that meet quality standards.

Duties/Responsibilities


Buying


  • Report any price increase proposals from suppliers and support department with preparation and completion of supplier negotiations
  • Reconcile significant variances. Monitor abnormal demand and take corrective action to prevent reoccurrence and to avoid excessive inventory
  • Hold suppliers accountable to the highest possible service levels with product quality and on-time delivery of the utmost importance.
  • Resolve any discrepancies in quantities, delivery, cost, and quality.
  • Special projects as needed
  • Prepare and maintain all relevant reports and KPIs
  • Maintain proactive communication with vendors to effectively manage purchase orders and ensure on-time in full delivery
  • Maintain supplier cost sheets & terms, as required
  • Communicate any supply-related concerns to ensure there is no disruption in the supply chain
  • Collaborate with Sales, Planning and Product to seek input and align on forecasts that drive purchase plans based on established inventory and safety stock targets
  • Ensure that all distribution centers have a sufficient supply of products as determined by the sales forecast
  • Set up proper X-Factory dates on all outgoing shipments and coordinate with International Freight
  • Negotiate favorable terms, volume discounts, cost reductions and contracts with suppliers in order to increase GM dollars for the company, all while supporting our internal initiatives and upholding our company standard of high Quality.
  • Responsible for issuing purchase orders and maintaining all purchase order information within the ERP.
  • Build solid, mutually beneficial relationships with all current and future suppliers.


Continuous improvement


  • Address the root causes of issues, create corrective action plans, and implement long term solutions
  • Challenge the team to be Customer Centric, including developing strategies to enhance our customer service and our growth, focusing on deliveries that are on-time, in-full and defect-free to influence positive customer feedback results, responsiveness to internal and external customers
  • Develop, implement, and maintain work instructions and process documentation
  • Identify and report any quality or compliance concerns and take immediate corrective action as required with internal and cross-functional teams
  • Deploy Lean methods to simplify processes, eliminate waste/non-value adding activities and improve workflow: evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes, procedures, and daily workflow
  • Drive performance improvement through the use and interpretation of Continuous Improvement Tools


Required Skills/Abilities


  • Proven ability to drive cohesion and collaboration among many different people & functions
  • Strong Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word and MS-Project skills
  • Understanding Team value and has ability to collaborate across departments
  • Organizational skills, with ability to manage competing priorities
  • Confidence, presence, and credibility to command the respect of colleagues and senior stakeholders, especially within Strategic Procurement, Engineering, Services, Logistics, and Finance. Ability to document, plan, market, and execute programs

Education And Experience


  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years of relevant work experience in purchasing within manufacturing sector with Asian-Pacific and Indian Market Experience
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with ability to effectively communicate well with all levels of the organization – English

Salary


$61600 - $77300 USD per hour
