Overview


About the Role


The Private Credit Valuation Analyst candidate will play a lead role in all aspects of private credit valuation. The candidate will assist in designing and implementing valuation policies and procedures, in addition to analyzing complex private and illiquid credit securities to determine fair valuation. The determination of the fair value will require gathering and disseminating company financial information, performing primary fundamental research and analysis, reviewing third-party valuation recommendations, presenting recommendations to the Pricing Committee, and communicating recommendations to internal and external clients.


The ideal candidate is highly knowledgeable of the securities industry, has extensive credit analysis experience within the fixed income/private credit asset class, has a strong understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methodologies, has a track record and desire to design and implement valuation processes and policies, and works well independently as well as part of a team. The candidate should have either a CFA or MBA designation or should be working toward it.


Responsibilities
  • Primary valuation coverage of 50+ credit investments (IG Private placements, Venture Debt, Direct Lending)
  • Successful collaboration with and oversight of third-party providers on all outsourced valuations
  • Research and resolve client inquiries timely, thoroughly, and accurately
  • Reviewing various legal documents (Credit Agreements, SPAs, Charters, ROFRs, M&A filings) to ensure rights, terms, and preferences of securities are reasonably and adequately valued
  • Perform independent valuation analysis that involves:
  • Additional private equity coverage across various sectors and industries may be applicable
  • Significant interaction and engagement with Wellington investors, sector specialists, portfolio company management teams, and auditors
  • Building comprehensive/corroborating valuation models based on primary fundamental research, company financials, quarterly board presentations, management calls, etc.
  • Leadership role in designing and implementing valuation processes and procedures for the private credit asset class
  • Attending relevant company meetings and industry conferences
  • Stay abreast of SEC and regulatory fair value requirements
  • Collaborate with various groups throughout the firm including: portfolio managers, fixed income traders, industry analysts, internal counsel, global relationship management, securities valuation team, and the alternatives/hedge fund administration group
  • Prepare, review, and present fair value recommendations, valuation policies, and company updates to members of the Internal Independent Valuation Committee/Pricing Committee
  • Conducting market research and analyzing industry trends


Qualifications


  • Designation of or demonstrated progress toward CFA or MBA strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to be flexible, self-directed, and think outside the box
  • Experience with market data providers such as Bloomberg, Markit, FactSet, CapIQ
  • Strong analytical, prioritization and multi-tasking skills
  • Superior understanding of financial statement analysis and valuation methods
  • Strong desire to design, improve, and enhance valuation and control processes
  • Exhibits a proactive approach to problem identification and resolution
  • Thoroughness, attention to detail, and the ability to think and work independently and within a team environment are a must
  • Advanced knowledge of fixed income and equity instruments, experience within the private credit asset class a plus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • 8+ years of applicable industry experience including company valuation and credit analysis

The Base Salary Range For This Position Is


At Wellington Management, our approach to compensation is designed to help us attract, inspire and retain the best talent in our industry. We strive to pay employees fairly and competitively across all levels and roles. Our approach to compensation considers all aspects of total compensation; all employees are eligible to receive salary, variable compensation, and benefits.


USD 100,000 - 225,000


This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered when making compensation decisions, including but not limited to skill sets; role; skills and experience; certifications; and education. This range is an estimate, and further details on salary and total compensation aspects will be shared with candidates during the recruitment process.


Base salary is only one component of Wellington’s total compensation approach. Other rewards may include a discretionary Corporate Bonus and/ or Incentives, if eligible.
