The Senior Principal Project Manager provides deep subject matter expertise and experience to drive operational excellence in Clinical Development. This role independently manages complex projects that may have an impact on neighboring organizational units and represents the professional expertise outside the company if necessary. Having a cross-functional, patient-centric, and forward-looking mindset, the incumbent is responsible for:

  • The co-development, implementation, oversight and refinement (in alignment with Corp Medicine and TAs) of the cross-functional collaboration framework.

OR

  • The development, implementation, oversight and refinement of the coaching, facilitation, and transformation framework.

OR

  • The development, implementation, oversight and refinement of the scouting and innovation framework.

OR

  • The development, implementation, oversight and refinement of the learning and development framework, across Clinical Development to improve overall clinical program delivery speed and value.

The incumbent, therefore, co-shapes and contributes to the definition of the strategic goals for important and complex aspects of the CD&O strategy, contributes to the definition of the goals of other groups, functions, and units with regards to these aspects, and ensures their execution.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Accountable for solving complex and only rudimentarily defined problems and for providing in-depth specialist expertise and experience and thus influencing / impacting on:
    • the development, implementation, oversight, and refinement (in alignment with Corp Medicine and TA) of a future-oriented, global cross-functional collaboration framework.

  • Accountable for controlling and shaping areas of responsibility critical for the successful execution of the CoE Clin Dev strategy across the organization through strong team collaboration, sharing of long-term professional experience and knowledge, complex problem solving, mentorship and contribution to strategic external global partnerships.
  • Experts for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Initiates, oversees, and leads complex CoE Clinical Development projects and supports CoE Clinical Development Team Leads with across project strategy, considering cross-organizational aspects.
  • Complements the CoE Clinical Development Team Lead in developing novel and reliable approaches to implement the strategy to integrate the CoE Team into a network of:
    • experts for cross-functional collaboration.

  • Contributes to the strategic framework of the Team Lead CoE Clinical Development and pro-actively provides solutions and improvements to build, establish, maintain and foster a lean organization considering the cross-organizational mission of the CoE Team:

    • by supporting the implementation and coordinating decisive structures for fast feedback targeted on value-addition.
    • by being an accountable, reliable, and trusted partner to clients (real-time feedback) and business partners (Controlling, TAs, etc.) with a strong network built on the cross-functional mission of the CoE Team.
    • by addressing inefficiencies, fostering team spirit, providing mentorship.
  • By addressing inefficiencies, fostering team spirit, providing mentorship.
  • By supporting the implementation and coordinating decisive structures for fast feedback targeted on value-addition.
  • Experts for learning and development in Clinical Development in and outside BI.


Requirements

  • Several years of experience in a directing/leading/managing role in clinical development/medicine in the pharmaceutical industry and demonstrated success in influencing stakeholders beyond the own organizational reach.
  • Profound knowledge and skills in the respective area of responsibility and demonstrated experience in leading, designing and implementing change successfully in the organization, i.e., of all aspects of an operating model related to:
    • cross-functional collaboration.
  • Cross-functional collaboration.
  • Bachelor of Science with at least ten (10) years in clinical development or relevant professional experience required; Advanced degree (e.g., MD, PhD) with at least seven (7) years professional experience, preferred.
