Job Description
Overview:
The CEO will render full-time, professional services to Sendero Health Plans (“Sendero”) in the capacity of Chief Executive Officer. The CEO will faithfully, industriously and to the best of their ability, perform all duties that may be required by virtue of the position as
CEO and all duties set forth in Sendero’s governing laws, regulations, contracts and bylaws and in policy statements of the Board of Directors and the Board of Managers of Central Health, to implement the strategic goals and objectives of Sendero in conjunction and
alignment with the other Enterprise affiliates. The CEO, with the Board Chair, will enable the Board to fulfill its governance function of Sendero. The CEO will be committed to providing inspiring and effective leadership while administering, directing and coordinating all
activities of Sendero toward the fulfillment of Sendero’s values, mission, strategy, and the achievement of its annual goals and
objectives.

The CEO will ensure the monitoring of quality measures as they relate to NCQA and HEDIS standards, and the implementation of further expansions to the lines of business.

This position is considered Hybrid, which means that individuals in this position may work both at an approved Offsite location and Onsite at a primary location or multiple locations based on Business Needs.
Responsibilities:
Essential Duties (at least 5 that are non-negotiable duties and are absolutely pertinent to successfully completing the job without accommodations):

1. Board Administration and Support – The CEO supports the operations and administration of SENDERO’s Board of Directors by maintaining continual, open and effective communication with the Board members. The CEO will ensure that comprehensive orientation and continuing education opportunities are available to the Board. The CEO will facilitate relationships between the Board, legal counsel, and accounting and audit organizations, will manage the use of legal counsel for operational matters, and, in conjunction with the CFO, will manage the engagement of accounting and audit organizations of operational matters.
2. Community and Public Relations – Through exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, the CEO ensures that SENDERO and its mission, programs, and essential services are consistently presented in a strong, positive image to relevant stakeholders, including patients, physicians, employees, partners, taxpayers, the Community Care Collaborative and Central Health. As the ‘face’ of SENDERO, the CEO will be actively involved in the community through service organization membership, speaking engagements, community forums, educational offerings and other opportunities to communicate SENDERO’s Mission.
3. Partnerships – Has the ability and political savvy to work within a complex setting which requires collaboration with multiple internal and external partners.
4. Compliance – The CEO will ensure SENDERO complies with local, state and federal laws and regulations as they apply to the operations of SENDERO.
a. Oversees the Compliance Department to ensure full compliance with NCQA and HEDIS standards.
b. Assesses risks to SENDERO and ensures the risks are being monitored and managed appropriately.
5. Integrity – Possess a high degree of trustworthiness and ethical behavior. Works with the board and staff to ensure adoption of adherence to appropriate values and ethical standards in all SENDERO business. Prevents conflict of interest perception that may negatively jeopardize the company’s reputation.
6. Strategic Planning – The CEO stays current with general trade and industry conditions and their potential to impact SENDERO’s policies and operations and, in collaboration with the Board of Directors, develops the short-term and long-term strategic plan for SENDERO and its offered services. The CEO effectively delegates key activities and functions to ensure timely execution of the strategic plan initiatives.
7. Delivery of Health Services – The CEO will collaborate with the executive team to ensure success in the design, marketing, promotion, delivery, risk management and quality of all the programs and services provided to our community. The CEO will delegate activities and functions as appropriate to the executive team and ensure the executive team will set and follow policies and practices that effectively support the members to ensure a positive experience.
8. Financial Management – CEO recommends yearly budget for Board and Central Health’s Board approval and ensures prudent management of SENDERO’s resources within those budget guidelines according to current laws and regulations. The CEO conducts or oversees the negotiation of professional, consultant and service contracts. The CEO ensures that appropriate internal and management controls are established and maintained. The CEO will work with the Board to ensure the appropriate financing is reviewed to support short and long term goals.
9. Human Resource Management – The CEO organizes the functions of SENDERO through appropriate delegation, and establishes a formal means of accountability for those assigned duties. The CEO ensures effective management of the human resources of SENDERO according to current, authorized personnel policies and procedures that fully conform to current laws and regulations. The CEO completes annual evaluations for direct reports in a timely and effective manner.
10. Adaptive Leadership – Approaches change by encouraging others to work together to tackle tough challenges to thrive. Is able to connect organizational change to the core values, capabilities of the relevant stakeholders. The CEO in collaboration with the executive leadership team are able to anticipate and counteract resistance related to the any change.
11. Facilities Management - The CEO oversees the preservation of the asset value of SENDERO’s investments, to the extent that SENDERO occupies them; oversees the management of construction and facility and ensures security, disaster, and emergency preparedness activities are appropriately planned, exercised, and documented.
12. Diversity and Cultural Competence –Understands and guides the organization through the subtle and complex diversity and cultural competence issues in healthcare as they relate specifically to marginalized groups (these vary by gender, disability, age, race, ethnicity, religion, and socio economic status).
13. Other Duties – The Board of Directors may assign other duties as necessary.

Qualifications:
MINIMUM EDUCATION: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field

PREFERRED EDUCATION: Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration or related field; graduate of an accredited university with a degree in Healthcare Administration or related field.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: Five (5) years directly related experience with a health plan or managed care company of similar size and structure preferred.

PREFERRED CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSURE: Membership as a Fellow in American College of Healthcare Executives preferred.
