About this Position:
Assistant Chief Engineer supports Chief Engineer to judge technical output of assigned function areas.
Responsibilities include:
- Judge performance, function, and quality targets from a complete vehicle viewpoint.
- Balance against business targets, product/technology strategies, cost, and delivery.
- Judge the appropriateness of requirements and approve adjustments for market representativeness and competitiveness.
- Determine design strategy for long-term cost/performance balance.
- Judge technical feasibility of complex component and system designs to achieve performance targets, function requirements, and manufacturing requisites.
- Judge appropriateness of function group test methods and strategies for virtual testing.
- Judge technical work for sound logic, accuracy, and adherence to Honda standards.
- Provide feedback to improve technical documents. Collaborate with project management teams to correlate report method and contents.
- Break down high level strategies/direction into clear tactical plans. Explain how they relate to the division's strategy, direction, and the organization's mission and vision.
- Ensure work is prioritized in line with division/company requirements and priorities.
- Teach engineering principles, philosophy, and best working practices that are in alignment with business conditions and strategies.
- Motivate associates to achieve technical area's goals and grow professionally.
- Set strategy for new methods to improve efficiency/accuracy including migration of testing from field to lab and lab to simulation.

Required Work Experience:
- 20 years previous engineering experience, preferably in Power Sports industry
Required Education:
- Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering or related field
Desired skills:
- Influential leadership and interpersonal communication skills, including written and oral
- Mastery in understanding and application of company philosophy, policies
- Mastery in creating a plan and schedule
- Mastery understanding of development project cycles
- Mastery analytical, problem solving, judgement, decision-making and prioritization
- Highly proficient time management skills
- Must maintain a high level of confidentiality
