POSITION: Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory has multiple openings for a Power Electronics Engineer 3 in Berkeley, CA.
Duties: Provide professional level engineering support to initiate the design, development, execution and implementation of scientific power electronics/supplies, instrumentation and controls. Develop and maintain collaboration across diverse technical fields (accelerator physics, magnet design, controls, facilities engineering) to develop specifications for high stability power supplies. Design of highly stable and reliable unipolar and bipolar power supplies. As the Technical Lead, work with technicians under minimal supervision to test power supplies for stability, reliability, and efficiency. Develop cost and schedule estimates for power electronics projects. Includes design, specification, procurement, testing, installation and maintenance of new DC power supplies used for an upgrade of the Advanced Light Source (ALS-U) an electron synchrotron particle accelerator used to produce X-rays for scientific purposes. Analyze equipment to establish operating data, conduct experimental tests and evaluate results. Investigate the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts to potential inventions and products. May telecommute.
Benefits: This full salary range of this position is between $138,852 to $188,952 per year depending upon candidates' full skills, knowledge, and abilities, including education, certifications, and years of experience.
Requirements: Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or related field followed by 5 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate experience in the job offered or in a related occupation.
