Design Engineer - Electronics

S&C’s Feeder Automation Group is responsible for product development, product quality, product operations support, and product issue resolution. The Electronic Hardware group is responsible to produce electronic design and high reliable electronic hardware. In this position, you will report to the Senior Manager-Electronics Hardware. This position may be based in Alameda, Chicago, or Franklin depending on your location. This is a hybrid remote position which requires the ability to report to the office 2 to 3 days a week and ability to work from home depending on business needs.
Job Summary
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Occasional travel up to one week required.
• Participating in cross-functional teams at multiple geographic locations.
• Writing requirement documents, functional specifications, hardware test plans, and design documentation
• Designing and testing electronic circuitry in lab
• Designing, simulating, and troubleshooting analog circuits, power supplies and power electronics circuits
• Defining systems-level product qualification testing, life testing and production test requirements
• Providing occasional engineering support for existing product lines

Relevant Experience Required

• Must be self-motivated, well organized, and productive with minimal direct supervision
• 3+ years’ experience in design of mixed signal circuits (analog and digital) or power electronics
• Proficiency with relevant lab instrumentation such as oscilloscopes, DMMs, logic analyzers, power analyzer, etc.
• Low-noise, analog and mixed-signal circuits such as analog to digital, or digital to analog circuits
• Knowledge of electronic engineering analysis and simulation tools such as PSpice or LTSpice is desirable
• 3-phase AC power supply design with AC line voltages up to 480V
• BS degree in Electrical Engineering required, MS degree in Electrical Engineering preferred
• Experience with high voltage/high power electronics, design for EMC compliance and mitigation is highly desirable
• Custom magnetics and the associated electric designs involving transformers inductors
• Knowledge of schematic and board layout tools such as Allegro, Cadence & ORCAD
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Experience with medium voltage power distribution is highly desirable
• Proficiency with mathematical analysis tools such as MATLAB or MathCAD is desirable
• Limited experience in simulation, design, and verification for one or more of the following areas: Switching converters such buck, boost, buck-boost, fly back, SEPIC or other variant topologies
• Energy storage and motion control topologies such as H-bridge

• Handling: Frequent handling of parts or tools
• Standing: Occasional standing for work on complete control assemblies
• Bending: Occasional bending during access to equipment
• Pulling: Infrequent pulling of objects, possibly related to rearrangement work
• Pushing: Infrequent pushing of objects, possibly related to rearrangement work
• Carrying: Occasional carrying of light objects

Environment: Frequent use of personal computer, keyboard, and monitor, lab tools, etc
