Job Description

Duties

As a/an Policy Advisor, you will:

  • Monitor and provide recommendations for and implements policy impacting Tribes within Tribal Treasury advisory committees (ex. Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee).
  • Work closely with the Office of Recovery Programs, Office of Tax Policy, and the Internal Revenue Service and other Treasury department staff, Treasury legal counsel and other Treasury program offices, other agencies, and parties to transactions, to ensure timely resolution of issues.
  • Identify and resolve issues relating to the short-range and long-range objectives of tribal economic development and tax policy. Identify concerns and make substantive recommendations for improvement in policy, programs objectives, operations, and resources.

Qualifications

You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE (GS-14): Specialized experience for the GS-14 is one year (52) weeks of experience at the GS-13 level or equivalent in either public or private sectors, that is directly related to the position as listed in this announcement and which has equipped the candidate with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position.

Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:

  • Primary author for written analyses or summaries (such as memoranda, reports, or presentations) for senior officials regarding the implementation of federal funding related to Tribal economic development, economic recovery, and tax; AND
  • Leading reviews and provision of technical feedback on federal legislation impacting Tribes; AND
  • Leading research analysis and advising senior officials on compliance and oversight related to federal Tribal Funding; AND
  • Leading the operation and management of Tribal consultations.
