The Plant Manager for Cytiva’s new plant in Muskegon, Michigan will be responsible for the start-up of Cytiva’s BioProcess Resins plant and lead a cross functional leadership team to align the Muskegon site with the operating model. This role will support the site from brown field to chromatography resin manufacturing.

Reporting to the Head of Manufacturing Resin & Technologies, the role will establish the site organization and lead the Plant Management team to achieve a high performing unit in safety, quality, delivery, inventory and cost and delivery targets which are consistent with business objectives. You will facilitate continuous improvement to ensure practices are aligned with Danaher’s DBS Practices and develop and lead the site operations to create and foster a team environment and culture which is consistent with the site objectives and the strategic direction of Cytiva.


What you’ll do

Recognized as a senior leader you will lead a sophisticated chemical manufacturing operation. Regularly influence senior management and develop/implement system-wide strategic business plans for the manufacturing plant. When finalized, the chemical production plant will have around 200 associates dedicated to manufacture BioProcess Resins. This includes functions like chemical manufacturing, raw material handling, quality control, solvent handling, wastewater treatment, maintenance, system support, business continuity and process improvement. You are responsible for leading plant-manufacturing operations, and meeting all operational defined targets such as safety, quality, delivery, and cost.


Key Responsibilities Include

  • Drive Product Quality, Lean and e-Manufacturing so that internal business metrics are met.
  • Ensure a safe work environment and following all existing laws and regulations using HOP and other EHS related tools.
  • Maintaining full Quality System Regulation and Current Good Manufacturing Practices requirements.
  • Aware of and follow the Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy, Quality Goals, and applicable laws and regulations as they apply to this job type/position.
  • Drive the manufacturing team towards execution of Business Goals using DBS (Danaher Business System) with LEAN manufacturing methodology, daily management and PSP.
  • Developing the site from project to regular manufacturing.
  • Ensuring sufficient manufacturing capacity exists to achieve all customer commitments.
  • Build and establish future site organization.
  • Act as key stakeholder (owner) and establish the BioProcess Resins site together with project team.

  • Great presentation skills, proven both internally and towards customers.
  • Focus on sustainability, good understanding of the impact of business decisions on the environment.
  • Deliver on company goals through creation and comprehensive communication of practical "hands-on" operational plans and strategies.
  • Engaging and inspiring leader.
  • Bachelors degree in Chemistry/Chemical Engineering or similar; Masters preferred.
  • Ability to successfully empower and maintain high integrity, employee involvement, safety and teamwork.
  • Understanding customer needs, marketplace dynamics, industry trends and competitive landscape.
