How will you make an impact?
The Facilities Manager will work closely with the Production Manager and Engineering staff to direct and coordinate the operation, maintenance, and repair activities of equipment and facility systems, and will be responsible for the Preventive Maintenance Program by tracking and scheduling regular maintenance work orders. With assistance and guidance of the Divisional IT Help Desk, this position will act as the on-site Information Technology (IT) coordinator, requiring basic knowledge of network computer software and hardware. Commitment to Safety, by following site safety procedures and using safety equipment as required for daily activities. Ability to document Near Miss reports, safety opportunities, accident reports, etc.
What will you do?
Maintain focus on continuous improvement helping improve equipment maintenance, safety, efficiency, and throughput.
Lead all aspects regarding utility/mechanical/electrical contracts and external resources.
Partner with Operations, Quality, Finance and EHS&S in the identification, definition and execution of Facilities projects to improve workplace conditions.
Maintain all requirements related to local and regional regulatory requirements.
Serve as an authority for building Management System (BMS) and site Facilities support equipment to including WFI/USP Water, Boilers, Chillers, Compressed Air, HVAC, Fire Protection and Electrical Systems, among others.
Evaluate and prioritize daily routine and emergency maintenance needs.
Contact and schedule outside vendors and contractors as needed with proper approval.
Network and maintain vendor and contractor relationships
Establish and maintain the preventive maintenance program for the facility.
Ensure reliable and efficient operation of all facility and utility systems as well as manufacturing equipment.
Facilitate communication activities and act as liaison between facilities personnel and other leaders at the site.
Secure resources to safely provide services not performed by internal labor. Coordinates schedules and activities minimizing business interruptions.
Respond to unplanned facility emergencies. This position provides support to the facility as needed outside of regularly scheduled work hours.
General - Physical and Environmental Requirements:
Work in a controlled manufacturing environment; occasionally standing for long periods of time while performing duties.
Expose to fumes and chemicals such as raw materials, cleaners, etc.
Some overtime will be required with prior notice to support business needs. Emergency overtime may be required with little notice to ensure operational objectives.
How will you get here?
Education
BS degree in Chemical, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering required, or equivalent experience.
Experience
- Must have 3-5 years progressive experience in facility/maintenance management and supervision.
- Experience in supervising the maintenance of critical plant equipment
- Experience supervising unionized personnel.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
- Good mathematical skills and a basic knowledge of statistics.
- The ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities is essential.
- Ability to plan at a high level and manage daily operations.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
- Must be a self-motivator with the ability to work independently.
- Ability to work with all levels of personnel from floor associates to Production Manager.
- Knowledge of FDA, GMP, ISO, and safety.
