Job Description

OPPORTUNITY

The Plant Controller will partner with operations leaders and Company’s finance team to implement standard costing at the facility. This will include implementing a new perpetual inventory system, creating standard costs for all SKUs and analyses to measure operational efficiencies. The Plant Controller will help operations leaders manage to metrics, forecasting throughput and projecting labor and material needs. The Plant Controller will with work with corporate accounting to integrate standard costing and perpetual inventory balances with the general ledger. The Plant Controller will also work with local accounting team to ensure that the financial statements are timely and accurate. The Plant Controller will also work hand in hand with the Company’s Controller and the Chief Financial Officer to improve processes and implement best practices at other plant locations.


RESPONSBILITIES

  • Implement inventory system, processes, and controls.
  • Supports multiple functions including A/R, A/P, cost accounting, operations, and inventory.
  • Support the current accounting team in the month end accounting close ensuring compliance with GAAP.
  • Supervise inventory counts and prepare best practice documentation on counts.
  • Analyze plant labor, operational spending, and inventory balances for optimal manufacturing levels.
  • Maintain standard cost system including BOMs and labor.
  • Preparation of daily/weekly/monthly plant performance reports.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records at the plant until a full perpetual system is implemented.


QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Strong leader with an ability to develop others on the team.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with a team of professionals inside and outside of accounting/finance.
  • Presence in the Boston office and limited travel.
  • Proven ability to implement systems, process and controls.
  • Strong decision making and problem-solving skills with practical judgment and realistic understanding of the issues involved.
  • Experience with NetSuite and Sage is preferred.
  • Strong analytical and written/verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive, hands-on, results oriented style.
  • Prefer experience in food manufacturing.
  • Undergraduate business degree in accounting or finance required.
  • Budgeting and strong cost accounting experience.
  • Possess a solid understanding of all the financial and operating aspects/measurements of the manufacturing areas of responsibility.
  • Strong attention to detail with consistent accuracy.
