Job Description
General Summary
Under general supervision, responsible for recruitment of employed and non-employed physicians within Edward Hospital & Health Services. Confers with Vice-President of Physician Integration and the Administrative Director of Medical Staff Affairs, Recruitment and Outreach regarding physician needs and position requirements. Conducts initial lead generation of candidates. Performs initial screening and assessment of potential candidates. Coordinates initial candidate interviews. Develops working relationships with EHHS Medical Staff and supports on boarding activities of newly recruited physicians.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (The following duties and responsibilities are all essential job functions, as defined by the ADA, except those that begin with the word "May.")
  • Confers with Vice President of Physician Integration, Administrative Director of Medical Staff Affairs, Recruitment and Outreach and the Vice President, Practice Management, EMC/EHV to determine staffing and recruitment needs and to understand required/desired candidate competencies.
  • Under the general supervision of the Director of Physician Services ensures timely recruitment and placement of qualified physician within EHHS.
1.2 Posts open position information online, including position summary and requirements as needed. 1.3 Utilizes online applicant tracking system to provide candidate pool for open positions. 1.4 Reviews CV’s to determine education, work experience, and credentials of potential applicants.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Utilizes Practice Match physician recruitment database as primary source of lead generation.
  • A moderate level of analytical ability is required. Work is performed in accordance with standard procedures but does require basic Sales knowledge in order to analyze and interpret information.
  • Work generally consists of activities, projects, or assignments where there is considerable decision-making authority regarding procedures, plans and schedules.
  • Maintains communication with candidates as EHHS’s contact person during recruitment process, providing general information and answering inquiries.
  • Works closely with representatives from appropriate advertising agencies to develop and place professional and cost-effective physician recruitment advertisements in trade journals and on the Internet.
  • Assesses market salaries and makes recommendations regarding starting salaries. Partners with Admin Director and Vice President to negotiate offer terms as necessary.
  • A high level of communication skills is required in order to screen, interview, and evaluate applicants; and interpret and explain policies.
  • Attends job and career fairs, visits residency programs and initiates other activities to promote physician recruitment in general.
  • Screens physician candidates by conducting initial behavior-based interview to determine qualifications and appropriate fit in practice/position environment. Provides candidates with salary and benefit information. May conduct additional interviews in cooperation with hiring administrator or physician group. Confers with Admin Director regarding candidate availability, qualifications and interviews.
  • Ensures completion of reference checks and other verification as necessary.
  • Requires a Bachelor's Degree; preferably in Business Administration or Marketing/Sales. Two to three years of previous physician recruitment, recruitment or sales experience coupled with a physician relations background preferred. The ability to develop strategies, plan marketing tactics and implement tactics in a highly competitive marketplace required.
  • Researches, develops, and submits innovative ideas to improve the physician recruitment strategies of EHHS as a premier health care provider.
  • Coordinates initial onboarding of newly recruited physicians, assists with completion of new physician paperwork.
  • Work requires the ability to walk or stand for an hour or more at a time, lift or carry objects weighing 5 - 20 pounds, proofread and check documents for errors, and use a keyboard to enter, retrieve or transform words or data.
Work is generally performed in an office environment in which there is only minimal exposure to unpleasant and/or hazardous working conditions
