Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Performance Analyst and Sports Scientist with the LA Clippers Performance, Health, and Wellness Department. The Performance Analyst and Sports Scientist will assist the Director of Applied Sports Science in delivering performance-enhancing services for elite basketball players within the LA Clippers organization and will play a critical role in the setup, operation, and analysis of sports-related technology, data collection and research.


In this role, you will monitor athletes’ training exposure and response, develop and administer data collection processes and internal performance research projects, and perform data analysis. Analyst will build tools to efficiently evaluate performance data, provide analysis and visualization, project future performance and make recommendations to our coaching staff and players.


Ideal candidate will have two or more years of experience in a sport science role in collegiate or professional sports, have demonstrated skills in R, Python and SQL to perform data analysis, and be enrolled in or completed a relevant post-graduate program. Certified Performance and Sport Scientist (CPSS) credential is desired.


This is a full-time role based out of Honey Training Center in Playa Vista and is eligible for our competitive benefit offerings including health insurance, Wellbeing Allowance and 401(k) with company contribution.

What You Will Do


  • Other duties as assigned
  • Evaluates technologies and new innovations within the sport science domain as required.
  • Integrate basketball and performance analytics with advanced statistical and modeling frameworks.
  • Travel with the team to handle data collection and program implementation.
  • Ensures that the cleanliness and hygiene of the laboratory environments and associated equipment is maintained within the facility.
  • Acts in an interdisciplinary role with other technical areas to support Sports Science requirements as required.
  • Collect performance data and manage database
  • Implement monitoring and assessment interventions as required.
  • Design and administer internal research projects.
  • Analyze performance data and communicate results and projections to coaching staff and players
  • Plan and prepare testing and evaluation activities.
  • Develop software for data management, analysis, and dissemination.
  • Undertakes data handling, data basing, and data analytics as required.
  • Maintain data cleanliness and hygiene (e.g., systematic assurance of high data quality).


Your Background, Skills And Qualifications


  • Able to demonstrate their ability to conduct, analyze, and interpret results from natural experiments and/or N-of-1 in team sport settings.
  • Bachelor's degree in Sports Science, Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Due to the nature of this industry, the candidate must be available to work a flexible schedule, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to learn, contribute and thrive in a fast-growing, dynamic environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • A passion for sports and a deep understanding of the physical and physiological demands of team sports.
  • Able to demonstrate their ability to work independently on assigned tasks and to deliver outcome goals effectively.
  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or Doctoral program OR has a Master’s or Doctoral degree in Sports Science, Exercise, Kinesiology, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Understands sophisticated statistical concepts and modeling techniques.
  • Outstanding work ethic and attention to detail.
  • 2+ years performing sports science duties or analytics in collegiate and/or professional team sport setting(s).
  • Excellent communication, and presentation, with the ability to convey technical information to both technical and non-technical stakeholders (athletes, coaches, etc.) through visual representations.
  • Demonstrated dedication with the ability to lead projects from origin through execution.
  • Effective interpersonal skills, both oral and written.
  • Proficiency in using software for performing data analysis, data science, and machine learning tasks (e.g., R, Python, SQL).
  • Able to demonstrate their ability to deliver a variety of physiological testing protocols and the capacity to follow methodological procedures.
  • 2+ years of using software for performing data analysis, data science, and machine learning (e.g., R, Python, SQL).


Compensation


  • $60,000 - $65,000 annual compensation. Compensation package offered will be based on multiple individualized factors, including a candidate's job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • The role is classified as exempt/non-exempt.
