Christie Clinic's department of OB/GYN is looking for a PRN (as needed and non-benefit eligible) Patient Service Representative, between the hours of Monday-Friday, 8am - 5pm at the Christie Clinic on University location. Duties include greeting clinic patients upon arrival, assisting with the check in process, answering incoming phone calls, scheduling appointments and assisting with the checkout or rescheduling process. The PSR will also serve as a liaison between patient and medical support staff.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Demands include sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, stretching and lifting up to 30 pounds. Hearing within, or correctable to, normal range, vision correctable to 20/20 and manual dexterity for the operation of office equipment is required.
TYPICAL WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in the PSR area and involves frequent contact with patients as well as exposure to communicable illnesses. Requirements may include working irregular hours.
JOB DUTIES: (This list may not include all the duties assigned.)
- Keep a neat and orderly work and lobby area.
- Maintain provider schedules.
- Provide check-in process for patients.
- Maintain provider update board.
- Maintain relevant office supplies for department effectiveness.
- Greet patients and visitors in an efficient, professional, and courteous manner and solicit customer feedback to improve service.
- Contact patients in the event an appointment must be cancelled.
- Remain aware of provider’s erratic and unpredictable schedule. Keep patients updated on provider’s schedule.
- Perform related work as required.
- Ensure patients fill out appropriate documents pertinent to patient visit.
- Verify and update necessary demographic information.
- Attend and participate in department huddles.
- Demonstrate the ability to promptly answer a high volume of phone calls and schedule patient appointments on multiple provider and resource schedules.
- Complete FMLA, Disability, etc. forms.
- Daily monitoring of all items in the EMR related to patient results and follow up.
