Part-Time Airport Building Maintenance (Entry Level)

Position Summary:

Are you looking for a fun, entry-level maintenance position in an airport terminal? Look no further! In this position, you will perform preventative maintenance and basic repairs in and around the South Terminal. You do not have to have your own tools! The South Terminal is an airport terminal located near Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Drives vehicles as needed.
• Installs or replaces floor and ceramic tiles. Repairs or replaces electric plugs and cords.
• Measures using tapes, transits, levels, etc.
• Repack changes oil/filters, lubricates, etc.
• Inspects buildings and equipment for needed repairs and maintenance.
• Operates drills, buffers, grinders, sanders, etc. Operate various power saws, i.e., radial arm, skill, etc. Operates acetylene cutting torch, welder, etc.
• Performs service on pumps, air handlers, cooling towers, etc.
• Performs basic plumbing installations/repairs i.e., install and repair faucets, unclog drains, replace valves, etc.
• Overseeing contractors when professional repairs are necessary.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Performs minor plumbing work, painting, and upkeep of electrical repairs
• Moves furniture, file cabinets, equipment, etc. using hand dollies.
• Performs minor repairs to tables, chairs, cabinets, etc.
• Repairing machines, equipment, or structures, as necessary.
• Performs semi-skilled carpentry work in the construction and repair of walls, ceilings, etc.

Minimum Qualifications and Skills:

• Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
• Valid Texas Class “C” Driver’s License.
• General maintenance experience preferred
• Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
• Professional presentation and attitude.
• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
• Eye for detail.
• Experience performing routine maintenance.
• Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary.
• Ability to obtain an Airport Security(SIDA) Badge
• Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
• Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
• Strong time management skills.
• Strong organizational and follow up skills.

Physical Demands:

• Heavy work. Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.

Working Conditions:

• The Maintenance Team Member is subject to environmental conditions such as weather and temperature changes and moderate noise.

Job Type: Full-time

Salary: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
