Job Description
Welcome to Grayson College. Grayson College is in the heart of Grayson County and provides a vital link for higher education. GC offers small classes for personalized instruction, affordable tuition, caring, professional faculty, and the convenience of day, evening or online classes. The college serves approximately 5,000 students annually. Part-Time Maintenance Custodian Performs various custodial tasks to ensure the cleanliness of college facilities.


The salary range for this hourly position is $11.72- $17.58


This is a 19 hours a week position. Work hours are


325 am to 725 am Monday - Thursday during regular school sessions.


325 am to 625 am Friday - during regular school sessions.


Work hours are altered during the campus summer hours but still will be 19 hours a week.


Overtime may be required for special events.


95% Performs general custodial duties of all buildings. Routine duties include but are not limited to the following


  • Cleans carpets
  • Cleans and sanitizes bathroom and bathroom fixtures and refills disposable items
  • Empties, sanitizes, and relines trash receptacles
  • Strips, scrubs, seals and buffs tile floors
  • Sweeps and mops floors
  • Vacuums rooms with carpeting


5% Performs other job related duties as assigned.


Performance Measurements


  • Provides a high level of service to the campus community.
  • Works independently to complete assigned tasks.
  • Practices workplace safety; follows directions for properly using cleaning supplies and equipment.
  • Demonstrates the Viking Values of balance, clarity, gratitude, service, teamwork, and trust.
  • Maintains building security by ensuring areas are secured and locked as cleaning assignments are complete.

  • Must be able to operate cleaning equipment.
  • Must be able to follow oral and written instructions in English.
  • Up to six months of similar or related experience. Two years responsible experience in a similar custodial job preferred.
  • Normal courtesy in dealing with others required.
  • Moderate physical exertion is required including walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, climbing, twisting, stretching, and reaching.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Must have basic computer skills to include the ability to use computer for online training.

Teaches English as a Second Language (ESL) Classes, administers student assessments, and performs other administrative duties to support student success. This position is funded by a grant through the Texas Workforce Commission.


  • The salary for this position is $24.00 per hour.
  • 70% Teaches ESL classes for the required number of hours per week.
  • 5% Performs other job related duties.
  • These classes are located in Plano, TX.
  • 5% Attends required staff meetings and professional development training.
  • These are in person classes.
  • 10% Prepares and submits lesson plans.
  • These classes are scheduled Monday through Thursday, 900 am to 1130 am.
  • 5% Evaluates student progress and attendance to adjust programming to meet state and federal guidelines.
