POSITION SUMMARY

Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to add a Part Time Recreation Assistant to the team at Arbor Glen Outreach Center! This position will focus on assisting with implementation and execution recreation programming and leisure activities for diverse populations. Our program areas will include, but are not limited to arts, crafts, wellness, special events, summer camps, afterschool programs, and athletics. The selected candidate will be a key member of our team in building strong partnerships with our community. This position will work about 29 hours per week, which may include daytime hours, evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business and facility needs.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recreation programming experience highly preferred


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure safety of participants/spectators and administer first aid when necessary
  • Collect fees and taking registrations for recreational programs and facility rentals
  • Enforce rules and regulations
  • Assist with special events and field trips
  • Provide customer service and handling of funds in a regional recreation center through telephone, emails, walk-in patrons and guests for information, program registration and facility tours; Staff the front desk and handling of funds as needed
  • Referee at various sports activities; provide services as timekeeper, scorekeeper or lineperson at games
  • Assist with various recreational programs for ages 55 and up
  • Assist in light maintenance of facilities and recreational areas
  • Handle inquiries and complaints from public


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Experience: No experience required.

Education: High School Diploma or equivalent

Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: N/A

Licenses and Certifications: Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid

Computer Skills: General knowledge of various computer applications including Microsoft Office Suite
