Parks Custodian Jobs

This position performs custodial maintenance duties to keep the Parks buildings and grounds clean and neat, in a safe manner that meets the City of Wauwatosa standards. The position also provides customer service and support to park users.

The starting salary for this position is $17.30 to $23.72 depending on experience and qualifications. The following are normal for the position but shall not be construed as exclusive or inclusive. Other related duties may be required and assigned.

• Assist with or perform snow removal activities
• Update and complete digital work orders
• Assists in on the job training of new staff on routine procedures
• Performs general custodial duties, to include dusting, mopping, vacuuming, cleaning restrooms, restocking paper and soap supplies, finishing and buffing floors, shampooing carpets, cleaning windows, etc.
• Empties trash receptacles, disposes of trash into dumpsters, and bags trash for proper disposal
• Report for overtime work as assigned during public works emergencies.
• Performs minor maintenance of facilities such as replacing light bulbs, adjusting furniture, or other similar activities.
• Pick-up and dispose of litter from parks grounds and facilities
• Set-up, take-down, and monitor park events and rentals.

• Ability to meet physical demands of consistently lifting/moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally up to 50 pounds; must be able to push/pull a cart weighing up to 100 pounds.
• A valid Driver's License.
• High School diploma or equivalent required
• Ability to report for emergency overtime assignments as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Two years experience in the performance of custodial or semi-skilled tasks and operation of medium-duty trucks. All of our employees are leaders of different varieties and we place as much emphasis on leadership as on technical skills.

Receives supervision from Parks and Greenspace Manager, Superintendent of Parks and Forestry and/or others as designated by management.
