Orthodontic Dental Assistant: Part-Time

Smile Dental of San Diego is accepting applications to fill part-time (2 days per month) Orthodontic Assistant positions. We are looking for responsible professionals who are experienced, energetic and detail oriented.

The Orthodontic Assistant will prepare patients for examination and treatment, document patient information, treatment plans and procedures, as well as take x-rays and orthodontic facial/intraoral photos. The Orthodontic Assistant will assist the Orthodontist with treatments such as placing brackets, fitting bands and appliances. S/he will prepare tray set-ups and impression materials and will be responsible to sterilization of instruments and equipment. Our Orthodontic Assistants educate patients in oral hygiene instruction and provide postoperative instructions.

In addition, the successful candidate will maintain equipment protocols, comply with state and federal infection control standards, and ensure review and completion of documentation. The ideal candidate must be able to recognize signs of a dental emergency and provide for proper and timely response and notification to patient, staff and emergency medical personnel, when necessary.

To qualify for this position, candidates must have a valid license as a Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) issued by the State of California Board of Dental Examiners and must meet all continuing education requirements to maintain that license. The successful candidate will have clinical orthodontic assisting experience and X-ray certification. We are looking for an individual who is reliable, self-motivated and professional.

Salary: $25 - $27 per hour
