The Operations Manager will lead a team of 130+ production employees in the manufacturing of goods at the Houston plant. The role will involve maintaining a safe work environment while leading the team to deliver a high-quality product, on-time, and with best-in-industry costs. The Houston plant has safety, quality, materials, maintenance, and HR supporting functions, and it is the responsibility of the Operations Manager and their team to execute the processes defined by these functions and deliver on established metrics in a 24/7 operation.


Responsibilities/Duties:

People:

  • Support the career/personal development of the team.
  • Set goals and objectives and conduct regular performance management.
  • Implement disciplinary action when needed.
  • Promote a culture of trust, integrity, and care within the plant.
  • Build relationships, communicate, and align the team to the vision.
  • Conduct weekly 1 on 1's with team members.
  • Plan appropriate staffing levels and coordinate with HR to fill/maintain positions.
  • Develop supervisors into excellent leaders who spend most of their time on people-related activities.
  • Responsible for turnover metrics within the production team.
  • Provide recognition and appreciation.

Safety:

  • Comply with environmental standards set by the safety team.
  • Create and maintain a safe work environment.

Quality:

  • Oversee all production processes.
  • Monitor production to resolve issues and hold supporting functions accountable for action when needed.
  • Ensure products meet quality standards defined by the quality department, including ASTM/Industry standards and process CTQs.

Production Operations:

  • Participate in the annual budget process.
  • Report and present to upper management.
  • Develop, implement, and lead daily operating rhythms (MDI).
  • Participate in plant strategy development and establish team structure and processes to support plant/business metrics.
  • Ensure daily meetings between supervisors and each department, daily cross-functional shift meetings, and support at plant staff meetings.
  • Oversee multiple competing tasks and priorities and perform quality work efficiently with minimal supervision.
  • Own productivity and OT metrics, adherence to schedule metrics, and production consumables and supplies budget.


Requirements:

  • Knowledge of production tools and equipment.
  • Strong decision-making skills and a results-driven approach with attention to detail.
  • Outstanding communication ability.
  • Proficient in MS Office.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational, management, and leadership skills.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in production, manufacturing operations, or related fields.
  • Previous experience managing teams of 75 or more.
  • Experience in reporting on key production metrics.
  • Knowledge of performance evaluation and budgeting concepts.
  • Deep knowledge of production management.
  • Understanding of quality standards and health & safety regulations.
  • Strong people skills with an outgoing, friendly, and positive attitude.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Engineering.
  • Knowledge of principles, concepts, theories, and practices of the area of responsibility, such as Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, Six Sigma.
