Job Description

Oversees, coordinates, and prioritizes all service work performed in shop and field, including rewind, mechanical, machine, shipping/receiving, and mechanical field service. Directs manufacturing and field service activities in an efficient manner to achieve the company goals.


This position supervises a team of production supervisors, shop, and direct field service employees directly involved in the electric motor and associated electrical equipment field activities. Other responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Responsibilities

  • Assist and advise all service center supervisors, as needed, in repair and/or replacement work. Produce technical drawings and/or illustrations as necessary.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 20% of the time.
  • Monitor ongoing time-and-material costs for each job with department supervisors.
  • Advise and confer with all service center supervisors concerning employee performance reviews.
  • Ensure that lockout/tag out, confined space, electrical safety and OSHA standards are implemented and enforced.
  • Oversee the priority scheduling of all service work, including field service “rush” jobs, and routine repair jobs. Coordinate all inter-departmental work toward job completion within quotes.
  • Provide technical support for customers when necessary, including but not limited to confirming technical or engineering modifications, ensuring customer service satisfaction, and promoting a strong company image.
  • Direct all service center supervisors and personnel in proper safety procedures related to their duties, including use of proper protective gear, especially eye and ear protection.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Coordinate the repair and maintenance of all service center equipment with department supervisors.
  • Meet with manufacturers’ representatives concerning materials and equipment.
  • Approve all requisitions for needed service center equipment and review them with VP/General Manager.
  • Coordinate with HR Manager/VP/General Manager regarding interviewing and hiring applicants and terminating service center department employees.
  • Oversee an array of day-to-day operations and covering in-house staff and contractors, alike, while on jobsite.
  • Review and track all job estimate paperwork.
  • Attend seminars, expositions, and various schools to stay current on technical information related to the electromechanical service industry.
  • Communicate daily with VP/General Manager regarding service center operation, job scheduling, repair problems, customer concerns, employee performance, and other matters, as deemed appropriate.
  • Provide customer support when necessary.
  • Support staff on assigned project-based work.
  • Assist service center supervisors in understanding and administering company rules and regulations.
  • Ensure that all completed work meets EASA AR100 and other quality-control criteria required by the company.
  • Ensure that the proper tools and necessary equipment are available and in good condition to perform the required work efficiently.
  • Develop your employees by acting as a mentor and providing ongoing career coaching.
  • Carry out disciplinary actions in accordance with company policy.
  • Comply with all company memos and distribute applicable information to department supervisors and/or service center employees.
  • Manage multiple priorities and create a TEAM environment.
  • Direct service center supervisors in providing on-the-job training for all service center employees.


Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of Act software, Microsoft Word and Excel, Manufacturing software and Paylocity HRIS
  • Eight to ten years of experience in supervising mechanical work, electric motor repair; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Prior management experience of profit and loss statement, including financial budgeting, is preferred.
  • Strong ability to multitask
  • BBA/BBM/BSEE/BSME degree from accredited University or equivalent, with emphasis on business management.
